Or has it gotten longer? I was married before to a thai woman and I lived in New York Now I live in florida. It took my first wife six months to come to the states. Thanks but those are iimigration wait times and they don't coincide with the amount of time my wife had to wait. I just wanted to find out what people's experiences were I married once back in 1989 and my wife was here in six months, My new wife had to wait 2 years before she was approved. I know 9/11 had something to do with this but I also know some people that didn't have to wait as long as i did. and i applied for both visa's k-3 visa and immigrant visa

thanks for any replies

Hello Debaryman101

I am a new member and I would like to ask you about this post. I am a US Citizen and I married my thai wife January 8, 2003. Like a fool I pissed around about applying for her VISA. Ok so it is my understanding that now that I have applied for her immigration VISA ... I can apply for a K3-VISA and that application is proccessed through Chicago... not my regional office... They say it takes 4-6 months to get the K-3 VISA because it fales under the immigration LIFE act. and is suppose to be so that families will not be seperated for great lengths of time.. It is also my understanding that it makes a difference if you are a born US citizen or are a permanent resident by naturalization. I am sorry about your 2 year wait but I hope it was a rare event. I have also been told that because of this LIFE act if the waiting time is more then 6 month that a person should contact their state representative. Sometimes it's not what you kow but who you know and believe it or not state reps. can get things done.. Have a good one and I hope you get more replies to this post as I am just a curious as you are.

I sounds as if you applied for normal spouse immigrant visa which used to take only 6 or 8 months but has greatly increased in time since 9/11 (believe two years is right for that). Because of this problem the new K3 visa class was started and those times should only be a little longer that finance type (6 months or so). Most of the processing time is done after visa is issued with this type so couple can be together.

The Newb's correct, this can be effective,

Politicians (Reps, Senators, ..) love to exert their influence.

A friend was having a protracted IM issue, his Senator interceded, things began to happen quickly after that. Of course, wait until your confident you have a legitimate issue.

Good Luck and I hope things progress well for you. mod8(smoking%20pipe)a.gif

I want to bring my g/f to the states but don't want to marry her. I married 4 other thai ladies so I want to be careful this time. Can she visit me in the states?
