I have looked at the vid many times and in other reports they agree the bus did not speed away or slow down it was going at a constant speed. He stepped of IMO.

Helmets are rarely donned on motorcycles and no one is "made to", tho occasional fines are dolled out. Never gonna happen on baht busses.

People do like to stand on the back step even when the bus has spare seating......human nature...but it is a little odd that he has fallen with his head toward the direction of travel.

Looking at the position of his body it suggests he has attempted to jump off whilst the bus is still moving.

 

I can't see how else he could end up in the position......back to the ground and head in the direction of travel.

Strangely, after being a regular in Thailand for 35 years I have never heard of any serious accidents with passengers on these baht busses! They go slow, you give a signal and they stop. What is the problem? Anyone heard of serious accidents before?? These busses are important for the flow of people! Do not mess with it!

    Watch the video. The rider either fell off or tried to jump off while the baht bus was moving at a normal rate of speed.  Sorry, but an accident entirely the rider's fault.

Before coming to LOS all should be aware of this: Come at your own risk. 

Do not expect modern safety or in some cases any safety standards at all. When riding in back of a Song Tao always grab hold of something.  Recently I was in the back of a taxi where the driver was wearing not one but 5 amulets. I ensured my seat belt was secured.

He got off the bus whilst it was moving, not when it was stopped for the passenger to pay.

End of story - well said.  This is reality and it is why I hope Thailand does not fall for the 'Nanny State' mentality and try to stop this ever happening again.  Doing that in the west has resulted in so many things in people's lives being 'controlled and managed' by incompetent Government bureaucracies that continue to grow and cost a fortune to staff with useless people who are not accountable to the people for their actions (and who cannot be sacked).  The main reason I left my home country was the Nanny State it had become - it is now run by a bunch of Karen's forcing people to not do what they dont want them to do, and forcing them to do what they do want them to do.
