A stunned homeowner from Chon Buri is seeking answers after being handed a massive water bill of over 163,000 baht for just one month's usage. As word about the exorbitant invoice twitched on social media, especially on the News Chon Buri-Rayong Online Facebook page, more attention was drawn to the individual's predicament.

The water bill, corresponding to July, totaled an alarming 163,767.51 baht, an unusual amount considering only one occupant lives in the house. The baffled homeowner has requested an investigation, questioning the correctness of the meter reading and the probability of a billing error.

Shockingly, the homeowner shared, "Our water bill for the month was 163,000 baht. How is it feasible? The total is higher than the whole village's combined water charges. Could the meter reading be mistaken?"

The unheard-of bill precipitated a flood of comments, thoughts, and concerns on social media. Many are speculating that a mistake in the meter reading or a glitch in the billing system might be the culprit. "What type of water usage could lead to such a bill? They must've entered the numbers wrongly. How did they overlook such an abnormality?" were some of the common queries.

Several individuals recommended legal recourse, underscoring the seriousness of the ordeal. "File a lawsuit against the person responsible for the meter reading," opined one; "The reader surely needs to be taken to task for this blunder. This is a matter of money," added another.

Anticipating a resolution to the uproar, local officials and the water company are now expected to examine the complaint and explain how such a considerable error could occur.

I'm going to guess the decimal was in the wrong place or key was stuck when entering meter reading.

163,000 / 400 baht avg water bill equals 407.5 months or 33.916 years of water.

Even if they were piping Fiji water into the house that seems very excessive.

Yeah, that'll work.

But it's my understanding that the bills (water and electricity are totally machine generated on the spot, not human hand generated/calculated.

Out here in the sticks , the water bill is read , the units calculated by the lady who is reading the meter , then she gets the calculator out and multiply's it by the rate and physically writes all the info. onto a bill, tears it out of the book and hands it to the wife.

These extremely large utility bills happen at times.

The systems they use aren't perfect, occasionally mistakes can happen.

No big deal, Just need to explain this issue to the utility provider.

Guy has to plug the meter reading into the hand held device, and then yes it is fully automatic. Only mistake can be a faulty meter or entering the reading incorrectly.
