Is Elon Draining the Swamp on Government Spending or Is He the Swamp?
A Tiny Drop in a Bucket. Despite claims from Donald Trump, Elon Musk and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has uncovered massive fraud being committed against taxpayers, an analysis by the Washington Post called the assertions all sizzle and no steak. In an analysis by the WaPo's Aaron Blake, he made a distinction between accusations of criminal fraud –– of which there is little evidence –– and waste which has long been an obsession on both sides of the aisle. More importantly, he noted that Trump and his allies are conflating fraud with programs the president "simply doesn’t like or agree with." As he wrote, Musk made a big deal about discovering that a mine is being used to store government paperwork as a example of the yeoman work his DOGE people have been doing –– only for Blake to note "that mine was actually exposed 11 years ago by The Washington Post, in a story called, 'Sinkhole of bureaucracy.'" As he wrote, "This has been the story of Trump’s broader efforts to overhaul the government: big, hyperbolic claims without much to back them up. Even if you expand the money supposedly being rooted out to include fraud and alleged waste, The Washington Post’s Fact Checker, Glenn Kessler, notes that DOGE has publicly identified 'only about $2 billion in annual savings from specific line items' — a tiny drop in the bucket." "They seem to be having trouble locating the actual fraud. They keep saying they’ve uncovered fraud. But when pressed for evidence, they don’t seem to have much or any," Blake accused before ending with, "And that’s a problem when you’re using that as your justification for dismantling large portions of the government." -

Reduced tax on wine has it happened anywhere on Phuket island?
The "19 Crimes" is available in BIG C, Lotus's and most outlets that sell wine and it is the only one which hasn't come down in price (maybe old stock?) and is around 599 baht. However if you haven't tried JJ McWilliams wines or the Riddle Creek wine at 399 a bottle, then give them a try. -

Is Elon Draining the Swamp on Government Spending or Is He the Swamp?
On Wednesday night, February 12, a U.S. State Department procurement document was edited to remove Tesla's name. This followed media reports of a $400 million contract for Tesla. The document was timestamped December 23, 2024. According to Bloomberg News reporter Dana Hull, the document now lists a "generic designation" of "armored electric vehicles." Hull reports, "Tesla's name had appeared in the document near that of BMW AG, whose armored X5 and X7 SUVs the State Department is also planning to buy." The alteration of the procurement document is inspiring a lot of reactions on the Musk-owned X.com. Jeremy Martinus posted, "Breaking news: The government's $400M Tesla contract is now labeled 'Armored Electric V. Former Irvington, New York Mayor Brian C. Smith commented, "How about this @elonmusk from @business 'The State Department amended a $400 million Armored Tesla budget item to remove the company name after reports emerged questioning Elon Musk’s role in government spending.' Please at least try to hide your graft! @StateDep." DropSiteNews' Ryan Grim tweeted, "Tesla is forecast to win the largest State Dept contract of 2025 -- $400 million for 'Armored Tesla' -- according to procurement documents we reviewed. (And @elonmusk before you accuse us of doxxing, the docs are public)." Crooked Media's Tommy Vietor, a former Barack Obama staffer, wrote, "The State Department is about to steer a $400 million contract to Elon Musk...but no conflict of interest with him trying to control all US government spending."- 1
