The point was. slow down and think this through, they have many options upon there spouses death.  Hang with family, find someone new...  I feel like I'm talking to an angry teenager.

OK, that is sad and it can happen.    There is a lot to the above story but you have created your story and applied it to all situations regarding Farang relationships.  Much more complicated than that?

of course, w/o any language abilities you gauge things within your own culture - which may make them seem ignorant - when in reality???

 

I know what your only connection to Thai people is... and yet, why is it that all these "ignorant" Thai ladies, w/little education can learn English while their "educated" counterparts can't manage to scrape together a little Thai language? And customs... 

 

I also find them much more perceptive than most Westerners and communication can go to levels you probably would not understand can exist..  

 

See if you can expand your abilities to see, before becoming a name caller...

I even had one who closed her cashier as soon as I arrived to pay. I did nothing wrong, just pure racism. I live  in a Thai Thai area, I know perfectly well that people are less rich and more rude, but I educate them with a "Bye-Bye" and a big smile and if at first they laugh, after a while, they do the same. Finally, I avoid chain stores as much as possible. I prefer mini-marts, the covered market and small family restaurants. It's to be preferred, especially since the prices are almost the same. And that has nothing to do with thinking you're someone else. And, if you live in central Bangkok, Pattaya or Phuket, with the flux of customers, I understand that they prefer to work faster than to be polite, but 1/ they are none of them and 2/ not everybody live in these places. 

If you don't understand my point of view, before answering, ask yourself if your not also considered as rude with others.

Oh My Gosh, are ever fortunate to have you here to teach the 7-11 works--the "worst of the worst" you declare, how to properly behave!  What is actually obvious is that you should return to wherever place you came from, but I am guessing they really don't want you there, either!

Probably your Thai language skills aren't great, enjoy your pigeon thai conversations and by the sounds of it prefer Thais than westerners, always a bad sign

yeah, wrong again... I have farang friends and Thai - - and my Thai is very conversational.. just  because you can't do something doesn't mean others can't... sorry. 

 

I probably enjoy learning Thai as much as you enjoy checking your BMI and playing golf. Why don't you try and denigrate me for not being a good golfer? That would work. I am sure you can beat in a round of golf. A feather in your cap.

Finally, if you are not able to evaluate the quality of the service or the welcome of a place, avoid making comments, especially if they are insulting, well hidden behind your computer. The specialty of this site, although basically, it is just about sharing points of view and experiences. You may learn one day that there is not 1 Thailand, but 1000+ Thailand and depending on where you live (north, south, east, west), the people you meet, the fact of speaking the language etc. you can have completely opposite experiences.

I would seek some kind of therapy if I were you--i simply tell you that you need not be the teacher of 7-11 staff and you go all "bonkers"--u definitely have some deep-seated hostilities that need attention.  If all there horrible things happen here, then don't let the terminal door hit you on the ass on the way back to wherever you came from.

.... I really enjoy cooking, healthy, less expensive, and turns out much better than the slop they serve elsewhere ......... usually

Wife screwed up the yogurt, timing mostly, which means I screwed up the flatbread.  Oh yea, suppose to be Gyros 🙄

 

Not enough baking powder to compensate for all the extra flour I had to add, to compensate for using kefir instead of yogurt.  Started too late to actually make yeast bread.

 

So it ended up with, to be kind, mediocre Gyro salad, and not entirely bad.  She never lets to food win, and managed something that at least looked like a gyro.

 

Then .... you got 3 different mixing bowls, 3 different pans, cutting boards, and misc, to clean up & wash.  An easy hour+ of effort, to prep & cook, rewarded with a mess to clean up.

 

You sure can't knock 7-11, for convenience and ease, and probably only 2 or 3X the cost for a full up meal.  Sadly today, would have been a more satisfying munch.

 

Did have a nice slice of homemade Apple Pie though.  To be single and living out of that backpack.
