Popular Post webfact
Picture courtesy: Immigration Bureau In a bizarre yet alarming incident, a Russian national has been apprehended in Thailand for causing a public disturbance and begging in villages. The individual, identified as Mr. Dmitri (surname withheld), 56, was found near the Banana IT shop on Koh Phangan, begging for food and sleeping by the roadside. Thai Tourist Police, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Winij Bunchit of the 5th Sub-Inspectorate of Tourist Police, were called in to handle the situation. Upon verifying his documents, the authorities discovered that Mr. Dmitri had overstayed his visa by an astonishing 1,599 days. Mr. Dmitri, who revealed that he is half Russian and half Canadian, admitted to entering Thailand on a Russian passport. Despite holding citizenship in both Russia and Canada, Mr. Dmitri had opted to use his Russian credentials for his entry into Thailand. This revelation deepened the situation, leading him to be taken into custody at the Koh Phangan Police Station for further legal action, reported Matichon. This incident has caught the attention of senior officials in the Tourist Police Bureau. Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pueak-am, Commanding Officer of the Tourist Police Bureau, has instructed a stricter oversight of foreign nationals and workers, particularly those involved in unlawful activities. This directive aims to curb the negative impact on local job markets and prevent offences related to the 10 prohibited activities outlined by authorities. The arrest has stirred mixed reactions among locals and tourists, highlighting the challenges of managing long-term overstays and unauthorized activities by foreign nationals. The situation underscores the importance of regular immigration checks and community vigilance to uphold local laws and regulations. It remains to be seen what legal recourse will be taken against Mr. Dmitri, but this incident serves as a strong reminder of the critical importance of adhering to visa regulations. -- 2024-08-13 - Cigna offers a variety of health insurance plans designed to meet the minimum requirement for medical treatment coverage, with benefits reaching up to THB 3 million. Why "deepened the situation", or is it being inferred that if he'd used his Canadian passport, there wouldn't be a problem (I don't think so).

If he'd entered on a 15/30 day tourist extension he wouldn't be expected to do a 90 day report, probably he arrived in say Bangkok and moved there, and wouldn't notify of his arrival. I was here for 3 extensions (2 of them annual) before I found out I should have been doing 90 day reports as well, Immigration never queried the fact lack of reports, and I only found out be being bored and started to read their noticeboard. 2

Egypt has the Gold at 1,898 days, with Pakistan in Silver at 1,734 days. (In Phuket.) Below you have what I believe is the record holder for the year A Nigerian with an overstay of almost 9 years arrested on Saturday July, 20 on Koh Phangan. Nigerian arrested in Koh Phangan island for selling cocaine, overstay - Thailand News After that, we have a Gambian man on the same island, also arrested between 19-20 of July with an overstay of 7 years. Gambian Arrested in Koh Phangan for Seven-Year Visa Overstay - Thailand News Third, we find a New Zeelander with a siyear overstay, counted to 2173 days who was arrested on the 10th of May outside 7-Eleven, Jomtien Beach Road. New Zealander arrested for 6 years overstay in Pattaya - Pattaya Mail There I guess you might have the right list of Gold, silver and Bronze medals for overstaying in Thailand 2024. Peterphuket
About 5 years, that is not a disaster anyway, the only thing is that the government has lost money, and now it will cost them money again if they have to maintain him in jail, but yes that will be another department.
Popular Post spidermike007
A Russian who overstays his visa is the least of their problems. Now they have invited in the Bratva, by opening up the country to all Russians. Quantity over quality only works if you are selling $2 items at a swap meet. Dumb and dumber. Thailand is no longer attracting very many Western tourists for a dozen very good reasons. Right now it is predominantly Malaysian, Indian, Arab, Chinese, and Russian. One could argue that these are relatively low quality tourists, in terms of the amounts of money that they spend. Sure you have a few wealthy Russians and some wealthy Chinese, but most are lower to middle income and don't spend alot. Except the Chinese and Russian gangsters and crime families. This process will not be reversed until the authorities wake up and make some sacrifices such as lowering luxury taxes, lowering wine taxes, cleaning up the air, making the highways safer, allowing more private air travel, helicopter travel, high-speed trains and alternatives to the totally choked and extremely hazardous highways.
