A transgender caretaker of an apartment in Chon Buri has become the prime suspect after a Thai woman found a hidden camera in the air-conditioning unit within her room. The transgender woman vanished from the apartment shortly after the discovery.

The victim, identified only as Noon, shared the story on the Facebook group Volunteer Lawyers, Free Consultation in Groups by Professional Lawyers, on Sunday, August 11, seeking legal advice as she wanted to sue the apartment owner and caretaker. In the post, Noon revealed what she found.

“I believe that the apartment caretaker installed this hidden camera inside my room. I’m worried that the videos captured by this camera might be leaked. How can I take legal action against the caretaker?”

Noon included pictures of the hidden camera and the location where it was concealed in the post. The camera was hidden in a plastic socket where the wires and tubes of the air-con were packed. It was secured with plastic tape and connected to the air-con’s electricity source to ensure it operated 24/7.

In an interview with Channel 7, Noon revealed that she had rented the apartment with male and female friends and they discovered the hidden camera on July 29.

Noon explained that water was dripping from the air-con, prompting them to use a flashlight to investigate, during which they noticed flashing red and green lights from the camera.

Suspect at large

Noon and her friends suspected the transgender caretaker, who worked there for over 10 years, because the transwoman entered their room 10 days before the discovery. Noon’s male friend encountered the transwoman as she was leaving their room and asked why she had entered without their permission.

The transgender caretaker told Noon’s friend that she detected an electrical issue in their room and needed to check it to prevent a fire. She claimed the situation was urgent so did not seek their permission before entering. The three believed that the transwoman had come to install the camera rather than to check the electricity.

Noon and her friends disclosed that the camera was positioned to view their bed and the area where they dressed, which could potentially capture them while undressed.

According to the three victims, the caretaker has not been seen at the apartment since they discovered the camera, and the apartment owner has also been unable to contact her.

The three tenants filed a complaint with Bang Lamung Police Station and officers are currently examining the fingerprints left on the camera to identify the relevant suspects.
