Why should Thailand give them any of those things? Thais are one of many groups which have converged in the same area but Karen are a literal tribe and don't accept outsiders whatsoever. Compared to Thai people it's next level racism/xenophobic or whatever liberal buzzwords you can think of. If they let those people into the forest they'll clear cut and start massive forest fires every year, throw trash in the forest etc... etc... They should go deeper back into the mountains towards Myanmar if they don't want problems. -

Any advantages to retirement over marriage visa?
Absolutely not necessary to obtain a non O retirement from visa exempt or tourist visa entry. You are living in Thailand with annual extensions. Very simple process. Your friend initially had a Non O-A visa and that along with extensions requires insurance. He could kill off his Non O-A and do as you did in obtaining a Non O at his local immigration office.. UK, USA, AU do not supply embassy "letter" Siam Legal are currently not assisting with opening bank accounts.. -

A rewrite isn't necessary. Just reinstate the 2007 Constitution, not the best but there was a reason the Prayut junta immediately abolished it in its coup. Such reinstatement would likely reverse Prayut coup amensty. However, current election, judicial, anti-corruption and state-owned institutions need to be reformulated by elected representatives of The People to best serve The People. Immediately thereafter, new elections. -

Thailand's 5-20 Year Visa Now a Bit Cheaper
I'm waiting for these boffins to suddenly increase the fares on all tourist or long stay foreigners. Just like what has occurred in areas where tourism didn't reach the numbers predicted. For example: Room rate 700 baht But only 10 customers = 7000baht so bump rate to 1000 baht 10000 baht, now good money. Dumb way of thinking but some stick to this and wonder why they now have no customers. Or commercial property owners who would rather leave a building empty (Sometimes for years) rather than take a lower lease rate. Thailand seems to be heading that way... shooting itself in the foot. But don't worry, China is on its way. -
