In a shocking case, a 23-year-old man from Bangkok has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl. The suspect, Watchara, also known as Top, lured the young girl under the pretence of taking her to see her brother, who was fishing nearby. He then sexually assaulted her, later claiming he was drunk during the incident.

The arrest took place on August 26, at around 11 am. Police Major General Prasong Anamanee, along with senior officers from the Metropolitan Police Division 9, apprehended Watchara in front of a house in the Bang Khae district of Bangkok. This arrest was made based on a warrant issued on August 23.

Watchara faces multiple serious charges, including raping a child under 13, taking a child under 15 for lewd purposes, and removing a child under 15 from their guardian for indecent reasons.

The investigation began after the girl’s mother filed a complaint on the evening of July 22. According to her, Watchara had lived in the same area on Phetkasem Road, Bang Khae, and had coaxed her daughter, Miss A, under false pretenses.

The mother reported that Watchara punched her daughter in the stomach three times before raping her. Following the assault, the girl suffered severe stomach pains. Watchara fled to a relative’s house nearby but was eventually tracked down and arrested by the police.

During questioning, Watchara confessed to the crime, admitting he was drunk at the time. "I was drunk and made her take off her clothes before molesting her," he said. It was also revealed that Watchara has a criminal history, having been prosecuted for trespassing in 2020.

To confirm the assault, the police have sent Miss A for a medical examination, and legal proceedings against Watchara are currently underway. "We are committed to ensuring that justice is served and that the victim receives all the necessary support and care," remarked one of the officers involved in the case.

This incident has shocked the local community and highlighted the need for increased vigilance and stricter laws to protect minors from such heinous acts.

One has to think what is the root cause that makes a boy or man do something so cruel to a young girl

Because their mummies/grannies convince them they are superior to their sisters.

Meaning the man raped an 11 year old while (he) was drunk

It's an ambiguous headline.

Like the one saying a body was discovered in the woods by a tramp in an advanced state of decomposition.

One has to feel sorry for the poor tramp, having to live that way.

Murder, rape, child abuse and many others are all crimes that should that should receive a death sentence

Agreed! Society is far too soft on such crimes in this day and age.

How about we let the judge get drunk just before sentencing this scum, and see what punishment he/she comes up with!

Many Thai criminals still seem to think that being drunk is a viable excuse.

A lot of them do their time in jail and upon release they are doing the same thing again.

agree... why do you think many get let out and the next day they're on the street doing the same thing again.   The governments and politicians need to change the laws and have judges dish out long jail terms or even death by firing squad ... that may make others think twice ...

Does not really seem to work,of course the dead criminal can not re offend but

they all think they will not be caught.

I think there is a better way to keep them contained.

Wow! Seems this is happening more often to young girls in Thailand. One has to think what is the root cause that makes a boy or man do something so cruel to a young girl. i fear for my daughters every day something like this would happen to them. I surely would kill the boy and go to prison.

I think it always happened especially in the villages, it just gets reported more and social media, it was said years ago many women never reported it, police never believed them,

It's simple .....  because they are uneducated and lack respect.  I also blame the irresponsible parents,  who were too busy getting drunk on Lao Khao with the next door neighbors.

sadly,  thai parents lack any proper family skills ...

But even an uneducated kid knows right from wrong ....   he knew he was doing wrong  !

The usual excuse! Why does soo many boys and men here act more on instinct than common sense. Seems like they can chose between animalistic or human behavior? He should be old enough to not just act on his animalistic urges and control them. Being drunk is not an excuse!
