In the early hours of August 31, a tragic accident occurred when a 62-year-old Korean national fell from the 10th floor of a hotel in Pattaya, resulting in his death. The incident took place at approximately 05:05, prompting local authorities to rush to the scene.

The police, led by Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkamhan, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, along with forensic officers from Chonburi’s District 2 and rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Pattaya, arrived at the hotel, a 38-story building located in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

Upon arrival, the authorities found the body of Mr. Byung Yong Lee, a 62-year-old farmer from South Korea, who had fallen from the balcony of his 10th-floor hotel room. His body was discovered on the 5th-floor level, caught within a grove of trees, having sustained fatal injuries. The victim's body was severely damaged from the fall, and initial inspections revealed no signs of foul play.

Hotel staff reported that Mr. Lee and a group of fellow Korean tourists had checked into the hotel the previous day. According to his friend, who had been sharing the room with him for over 30 years, they had all been drinking together before deciding to retire to their rooms. However, in the middle of the night, Mr. Lee's friend woke up to find him missing from his bed. After a brief search, he noticed Mr. Lee's shoes were still in the room, which led him to check the balcony. When he looked down, he saw what appeared to be a body on the 5th-floor level, prompting him to immediately alert hotel staff and security, who then contacted the police.

Through a translator, Mr. Lee’s friend explained that the two of them had been close for over 30 years and had been drinking before retiring for the night. He noted that Mr. Lee had been noticeably intoxicated, but how he ended up falling from the balcony remains unknown.

Pol. Lt. Phuttharak Sonkamhan, who is overseeing the investigation, recorded the scene for evidence and ordered the transport of Mr. Lee’s body to the Police General Hospital’s Forensic Institute for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to uncover the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
