Doesn't the NZ Government pay old age pension overseas like Australia does???

NZ Pension for expats = -1/40th for every year you lived outside NZ. If you lived outside NZ a long time you'll get almost nothing.

Sometimes I feel down but than I remember there are actually people living in America.  They have no choice.  They came second in the lottery of life.

Only in countries with reciprocal pension agreements. Thailand is not one of them. I could live in the UK, but I'll never be that desperate.

The NZ pension is barely enough to live on in NZ and it pays less overseas. It would never afford a pleasant face to wake up to, so why bother? I would have to pay my own medical as well, and I'm too old to take the risk of no health insurance, which I couldn't afford anyway. That's why I moved back in the first place- now I don't even have enough to extend a non O- cost of living in NZ is a killer.

I've never been to NZ - I guess I shouldn't expect much - huh?

Yes.

This Topic was SUPPOSED TO BE a Happy Topic.

Happy talk, keep talking happy talk,
Talk about things you'd like to do,
You gotta have a dream, if you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?

I actually saw the film production of that in 1958 when first released.

I was almost too young then, but most of it was a happy film and a happy time, except for Nikita...

Everybody was unhappy with Nikita...

I always thought it would have sounded better using the lyrics pillow talk instead of happy talk....

However.....

Those were happier times.

I was lucky to see many Broadway shows when I was a kid - even met James Earl Jones after a performance, but I never really liked South Pacific - sort of creeped me out with some creepy songs... Bali Hai is calling

Are you happy to be alive ? , well it beats been dead ,by a mile....silly question really..

Many of the liberal nutters on the forum are not going to be happy campers in November when Trump is elected president, again.
