In a heartbreaking incident during the morning of September 10, a parked truck rolled downhill and collided with a motorcycle carrying a mother and her young child, resulting in the tragic death of a 1-year-old girl. Two others were injured in the incident, which occurred on the Krabi-Khao Thong Road in Sai Thai Subdistrict, Mueang Krabi District.

At approximately 10:00, Lt. Witthaya Lukul, Deputy Investigator of Mueang Krabi Police Station, received a report of a collision that had claimed one life and injured two others. Emergency responders from the Krabi Pitak Pracha Foundation were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, authorities found a red Honda Wave motorcycle lying in the middle of the road, heavily damaged from the impact. Tragically, the body of 1-year-old Chalisa (surname withheld) was discovered nearby. Her mother, Ms. Chabaporn (surname withheld), 20, who had been riding the motorcycle, sustained severe injuries. Another passenger, Ms. Manee (surname withheld), 53, a relative, was also injured. Both were rushed to Krabi Hospital for emergency treatment.

The truck involved in the incident was parked by the side of the road with its engine still running. Initial investigations suggest that the truck, which was parked on a sloped section of the road, began rolling backward down the hill, likely because the driver had forgotten to engage the parking/handbrake. As the truck gained momentum, it collided with the motorcycle carrying the three victims, causing the fatal accident. Workers nearby managed to stop the truck from continuing to roll further.

Eyewitnesses reported that Ms. Chabaporn was riding her motorcycle from Ao Nang, heading toward Krabi town, with her daughter seated with her and Ms. Manee. They were on their way to take a relative to a medical appointment when the tragic collision occurred.

Police have taken the truck driver in for questioning and will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident. The authorities are also waiting for the injured survivors to recover and are proceeding with further inquiries to clarify who is at fault.

its almost automatic for me to apply the handbrake when I stop, even at lights and select neutral. Condolences to mother and family RIP young babe.

Hard to tell if it had air brakes from the photo, but at the very least it would be vacuum servo assisted.
