A crash occurred early on September 13, on Motorway Route 7, at Kilometre Marker 93+200, heading towards Pattaya in the Surasak subdistrict of Si Racha, Chonburi province. A van rear-ended a trailer truck, resulting in four individuals sustaining injuries, with one trapped inside the vehicle.

Multiple rescue units and local hospital’s ambulance were dispatched to the incident, which occurred at 00.25. On arrival the van was found smashed on the side of the highway, with the truck it had ran into parked a short distance away. It is not known if the truck had been stationary or slow moving at the time of the collision.

The van driver, 50 years old, was trapped in the van, suffering from severe lacerations on his body, broken right arm and leg, a deep cut above his right eyebrow and suffering chest pain. Rescue teams used hydraulic cutting tools to free him. First aid was provided on-site, and he was taken to Laem Chabang Hospital by Samitivej Chonburi Hospital’s emergency response teRescue teams

Three passengers, all Chinese nationals were also injured. One sustained a fracture to the left leg, with additional bruises and abrasions, while the other two suffered cuts and bruises. The three passengers were transported to Phyathai Sriracha Hospital by Chonburi Hospital’s emergency team.

We hired a VIP minivan (4 luxury seats in the back) to ferry some business visitors from the UK around Bangkok, Pattaya and Rayong.

The guy was a dangerous driver, weaving in and out of lanes, tailgating, and speeding.

I asked him several times to slow down and drive safely, but was only met with tuts and sucking in his breath.

These types of people should not be allowed to transport passengers in a commercial vehicle.
