Conservative commentator and longtime Donald Trump fan and supporter Piers Morgan surprised many with a post-debate takedown of Trump's performance, declaring that Trump was "boring" and that Harris won the debate "comfortably."  "Could be an election game-changer," he added.

This coming from a Morgan who was a past winner of the U.S. celebrity version of The Apprentice in 2008, where Trump called him "ruthless, arrogant, evil and obnoxious." Morgan, who has more than 3 million followers for his YouTube channel, also in 2018 wrote to Trump during his presidency asking to be named as Trump's chief of staff.

Here's the short version of the highlights (lowlights) of a recent Morgan video on Trump's debate performance:

Here's the full version of Morgan's own long panel YouTube video that is the source for the above excerpts.

Another excerpt of Morgan's comments regarding Trump's performance:

Morgan has called himself a longtime friend of Trump, though they have had seemingly temporary fallings out, first over Trump's handling of the COVID pandemic, and later over Trump's involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters in an attempt to prevent the confirmation of Joe Biden's election as president.

In the wake of the latter, Morgan famously said of Trump at the time:

Morgan capped his above review of Trump's recent debate performance with the following comment:

"You know what I thought...I just thought at the end, that he was a bit boring, Trump. And the one thing he cannot be is boring."

Karl Rove savaged Turmp's debate performance in a WSJ op-ed piece.

Karl Rove: Trump called Harris ‘dumb as a rock.’ What does that make him?

Republican strategist Karl Rove blasted former President Trump for the “catastrophic” debate he had with Vice President Harris earlier this week.

Rove attacked Trump in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal on Thursday, criticizing the former president for his “train wreck” of a debate performance against Harris. During the debate on Tuesday, Trump appeared to grow agitated as Harris went on the offensive about his rally crowd sizes.

Overall, Rove declared that Tuesday’s debate was "far worse than anything Team Trump could have imagined."

These were the kneejerk comments immediately following the debate.  Unfortunately for the Harris camp, it has not translated into the bump in support they initially hoped for. Bottom line is that it did next to nothing to change peoples minds or motivate people to either vote or not to vote. In other words, minds are already made up. The comparison is as simple as it has ever been: 4 actual years of Trump vs. 3.6 actual years of Harris-Biden. No amount of spin,  moderator bias or lawfare can make people see other than what they have seen. Nor can it change the fact that, by every objective economic measure, people are worse off than they were in January 2021.

OK, bring on the "reeeeeeeeeeee"

Early post debate polls show Harris up by 5 points.

Ipsos is the first poll to show Trump losing support while Harris gains.

For the record: post Labor Day is when polls have significance. For our Russian friends, Labor Day was September 2.

I'm not a big fan of Morgan, but it does lend him some credibility when he speaks truth and tells it like he sees it. Anyone who defends Trump, contends that he won the debate, or even claims that he held his own, is no doubt living in an alternate universe.

Impressive, as Morgan has kept a lip-lock on the orange hindquarters up until now.

Both of them have done well as trash TV celebrities.  After DT loses again, he should take up the deal a network offers him to get his old show back, story is NBC offered him $25 million in 2021.  The two of them would be a great Krusty the Clown and Sideshow Bob team.
