Some folks need a U.S. History lesson. Yes, native Americans have the right to vote since being made citizens of the US 100 years ago. Whoa, let’s not forget that states refused them the right to vote and even today one political party is increasing requirements restricting their eligibility to vote. Just as was done to blacks with Jim Crow Laws earlier this century. Did you pick up on my secondary point here? States deciding … not all citizens of the USA having American Rights … the move is to “let the states decide”. One might ask why this is being done? Decide and weaken the USA as a United country.

You do know some native tribes owned slaves as well? They will have to pay up as well.

However, she acknowledged that any substantial move on reparations would ultimately require action from Congress. “I’m not discounting the importance of any executive action,” she explained, “but ultimately Congress [will have to act] because if you’re going to talk about it in any substantial way, there will be hearings, there will be a level of public education and dialogue.”

That's all she said.  So yes, the headline is misleading and speaks to the desperation of the right wingers who will toss anything against the wall and hope it sticks.

Tug, you should already have noted that I am of the same mind. However, reparations is defined as: "the making of amends for a wrong one has done, by paying money to or otherwise helping those who have been wronged." So, reparations but noe necessary any direct payment which I would oppose. I share my reasoning as I again think we agree on much. None of us living today were alive let alone responsible for things that had been accepted in the past. This has been driven home personally as I researched my family DNA. Quakers, small farmers in 1600s New Jersey and the documentation confirms they had owned slaves.

I have to appreciate how difficult is is for far too many who look for simple answers out of purposely wanting a simple answer or incapable of dealing with complex issues. They want a more secure world of yes/no, right/wrong answers ...

How about reparations for the Native Americans for having all their land stolen, genocide, ethnic cleansing and breach of treaties?

Perhaps they don't count because they don't have a significant population to vote for Harris. Do they even have a vote?

Yes they have a vote, along with approval to open casinos which makes them millions.

Kamala is just being true to her Caribbean roots. Good to see at least some kind of policy.

This worked very well for Germany, btw, in 1952 Germany signed an agreement with jewish leaders of Israel to settle the issue of reparations for jews.

Some 57 years later Germany was still asked to pay billions by the Israeli finance minister.

In 2022 the Jewish Material Claims conference was still finding recipients to distribute millions of German taxpayer money to.

Should reparations ever be approved in the US, this would be a slippery greasy pole of never ending reparations. Much like for Germany.

'After World War II, Congress created the Indian Claims Commission to pay compensation to any federally recognized tribe for land that had been seized by the United States'.    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/19/us/reparations-slavery.html

Also, how do you think they got all that land to build their casinos?

This.

Anyway, the figure I saw banded about was $15 trillion. Let me tell you what will happen even 10% of that is distributed to ADOS.

1. The murder rate will soar to wartime levels of death.

2. Approximately 1 million ADOS will die premature deaths due to addiction overflow etc

3. Race relations will deteriorate to at least Jim Crow levels of hatred, and the hatred will flow from allcomers, not just the white community.

In short, and there's more I can mention, it would be an utter catastrophe for ADOS, and a catastrophe for the USA.

And that's even before you try to work out who is due reparations. Barack Obama is not ADOS, and you will be totally amazed at the number of white people who are descended from ADOS.

Yet another word salad pander by Kamala.  Manages to say nothing, but takes two minutes to say it.  She wants to shore up her slipping support among black voters, especially male blacks.

The actual subject of reparations itelf deserves a whole new discussion, but the point here is that there is a bit of desperation showing in the Democratic ticket.

Harris claims she is 47% Black. So does that mean she will receive 47% of the the hard earned taxpayers money that she gives away? Harris has always been very open........

Slipping support? Not slipping for her.

Nothing wrong with discussing any topic. There is nothing on the table so far.

She doesn't have any ADOS blood so she doesn't qualify.

The original Americans are going to be a minority in the very near future. Do they think the millions of new immigrants which aren't even from Europe will want to play the pander to blacks game that democrats are running? This is going to seriously backfire and will start costing them the Hispanic and Asian vote.

Original Americans?

Yes, she has a reputation of being rather open. Some say this is the reason she has risen to the her place of prominence. It certainly has not been due to her intelligence as evidence by her word salad. Russia and China must be salivating at the thought of Harris being President.
