Former Air Force Central FC Player Dies in Horrific Benz Crash

Former football star Kittipong Pathomsuk, nickname Pond, aged 29, who once played for Air Force Central FC, tragically died in a horrific car crash on the morning of September 20. The crash occurred on Kanchanaphisek Road, Thap Chang area, Bangkok, leaving two dead as the luxury Mercedes-Benz he was driving crashed and turned into wreckage.

 

The crash happened at around 05:40, in front of a restaurant on Kanchanaphisek Road. Deputy Inspector Pongpat Sridong of Bang Chan Police Station, along with emergency responders from Rom Sai and Ruamkatanyu Foundations, rushed to the scene.

 

The authorities found the black Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 E (license plate Bangkok) completely mangled and flipped over on the road’s median. The engine had been torn from the vehicle, and both front wheels had detached. A male victim, identified as Kittipong Pathomsuk, was found nearby, suffering from severe injuries, including multiple fractures, a twisted body, and a fatal head injury. A female passenger, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was also found dead at the scene.

 

 

According to an initial investigation, the car was speeding down a bridge when it hit a pothole, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle swerved, struck the side barrier, and flipped violently, ejecting both occupants from the car. 
 

Police are working to determine who was behind the wheel, as the extent of the damage has made it difficult to confirm. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to shed light on the incident, while the bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for further examination.

 

Kittipong, known as Pond, was once a professional footballer for the Air Force Central FC.. He had since transitioned into an online business selling luxury handbags with his wife.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

He must have thought he was in an airplane, that's some serious destruction and wreckage, he had to be doing at least 200kph to accomplish that. Even on CCTV it would look like nothing but a blur depending the frame rate.

Both ejected, so not wearing seatbelts - not that it seems it would have helped though looking at the torn apart vehicle.  The destructive forces that caused that BMW be torn apart like that, means the speed at which this guy must have been driving must have been very fast.  Young guy, full of testosterone, bravado, rich, in an expensive high powered vehicle, driving at excessive speed that doesn't allow him to react in time to dangers ahead - what could go wrong?  Glad no bystanders were hurt.

In the UK I am part-owner of our family used car dealership. Although we deal in all marques we specialise in BMW and MB.  I have seen quite a few wrecked MBs at salvage yards but that must rank as the worst I've ever seen. The GLC 300E will top out at around 230km/h and I reckon he must have been 200km/h+.  I am also sceptical of the 'pothole' theory...

'Lost Control'    Having been a Passenger in several high powered Cars driven by Thai's (usually i'm the only one wearing a Seat Belt) i can say it is not a nice experience at all as they love showing off.    Normal practice seems to be no Seat Belt and either driving with one hand on the Steering Wheel or at times just one finger or one thumb.   No surprise then when they 'lose control' as you only need to hit ah empty Fag Packet at high speed to 'lose it' if you are not at any time in complete control of the Vehicle !

Tragic Crash Claims the Lives of Husband and Wife After Benz Overturns in Bangkok

According to Pongpat Sreedong, a police investigator from Bang Chan Police Station, CCTV shows that the vehicle was initially traveling at high speed in the rightmost lane of the main highway, heading towards Srinakarin-Romklao.

The car collided forcefully with an orange safety barrier dividing the main highway and parallel lanes, overturning multiple times before coming to a stop. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
 

The victims have been identified as Ms. Kritaya Sakornbut, aged 29, and her husband, Mr. Kittipong Pathomsuk, also aged 29. It is believed that Mr. Kittipong, a former professional footballer with Airforce Central FC, was driving the car. At the time of the accident, they were thought to have missed the entrance to their residential area near Soi Romklao 24, leading to a sudden lane change. Skid marks were visible along the road, indicating an attempt to switch from the main highway to the parallel lane.

 

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the accident.

Agree, what I noticed is it is a concrete road so would like to see a photo of the "pothole" they talked about.
