A shooting incident occurred in Khon Kaen on September 20, leaving four people dead, including a grandmother, a mother, and a family member, while a two-year-old girl miraculously survived.

According to local authorities, the shooter, 40-year-old Nopadol Antaksa, targeted his ex-wife, 28-year-old Khlita “Mew” Phaengrit, in a fit of jealousy after learning she had started a new relationship. Witnesses reported that the event unfolded as Nopadol attempted to reconcile with Mew but was unsuccessful.

The incident took place at a residence in Ban Kham Pom, where the family had gathered. Upon arrival, police discovered the lifeless bodies of Mew found dead next to the bed with two gunshot wounds to the head . Her mother, Mrs. Charuayphon, age 50, shot twice in the torso, lying dead on the bed. Another victim, 18-year-old Phonpiphat “Best” Thongyoth, was found deceased in the bathroom shoot twice in the head. The shooter then turned the gun on himself and was found shot in the mouth, lying dead on the bed.

Remarkably, Mew's daughter, aged 2, who was present during the shooting, survived the ordeal and was found sitting beside her mother, visibly shaken but unharmed. Local authorities took the child into their care for her safety.

Nopadol's motive appears to stem from deep-seated jealousy and domestic violence issues, as family members revealed that Mew had previously endured abuse from him. She had left him several times over the past few years but had recently returned to her family’s home after expressing her intent to end the relationship for good.

Witnesses reported hearing gunshots around 20:00 initially not realising the severity of the situation until they saw the aftermath. Neighbours described the sound of gunfire as sporadic, which raised concerns but did not immediately alert them to a life-threatening situation.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including Nopadol's mental state leading up to the attack.

Sadly, another half-man, that abuse and mistreat his woman, can accept the result of such actions. Too many Thai males are in the need of adult after schooling about what ex-wife means and learn that they by that definition are free to start a new relationship with somebody else. Their wife is not a commodity that they own for the rest of their life. This is starting to be a severe illness in the Thai male society.

One must suppose that the neighbors are used to hearing sporadic gunfire, as it no longer raise any concerns. Incredible!

The amount of funerals that go on in this country, with the fireworks that are set off, doesn't alarm people like it would elsewhere. If you aren't that familiar with the sound of gunfire, you could easily mistake it for funeral fireworks.

So sad that he couldn't move on, and had to take out the family before ending his own useless life.

As she was an ex, she could do what she want.

Thai male’s self entitlement and face saving is the result of social upbringing in Thailand.
