IIRC one can buy high strength beers at Rimping, 8-9%.

Lao Khao or vodka would probably best to avoid adding any taste.

Agreed.  Many good quality beers that are not weak can be obtained.   Spiking with higher alcohol not usually good unless going for sangria or punch type drinks

The good thing with a low alcohol content in beer, is that you might be able to get home in one piece after spending hours in a pub or bar!   😆

Try to source some old Chang beer from back when it was 6.9%.

Cheers Xtra is 6.5%

As is Tappers @ 6.5%. Better taste than Cheers, in my opinion.

Kulov vodka is OK @ Bht 320 a 70ml bottle or 430 pr litre.

Most beers are 5% or lower now, too weak i think. I have an idea to buy the beers i enjoy drinking and add alcohol, what would you add? rum, whisky? what specifically? anyone tried it?

This is for home use, only a couple a week, I'm not a raging alcoholic

Take it to the gym.

Tappers 6.5% is still my top 3 beer, currently prefer Beer Lao Dark 6%, tried one Dunkel but at 4.9% it's too low, maybe a candidate for a whisky or vodka shot

Poor a whiskey and think it is beer.

There you go, but still need the  Glencairn Whiskey Glasses and the whiskey at 17 Celsius.

If I want something stronger than beer, I drink wine, and if ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, whiskey or cocnac,

CJ Supermarkets.

Carabao has some interest in them AIUI  so it makes sense they sell the beer.

I've worked out.... that if i want Dunkel 460ml to be 5.5% i need to add 15ml of 40% voda, 30ml is 7%

It only works if you make your own brew

I use to buy a box of non-alcoholic beer and add yeast & sugar and let it ferment,   it tasted just fine,  especially when cold.   I would end up half-cut if I had a few ...

Well for me the glass doesnt matter, whatever is there. Now I drink from a real robust beer glass.

But not the beer, I drink it out the can :cheesy:

At once you learn, and taste the difference, a glass is not just a glass anymore. Unfortunate, I did drink from the visdom, and it have become my destination.

The more you learn about life, the more you complicate things, or?

Buy Belgium beer.

Recently and mainly because I've gotten bored with beer,  I've been drinking (gasp horror) Sato Siam.

Some say it's terrible and tastes like rocket fuel.  I think it's more like Saki. Yes the Japanese rice wine.

Initially I wasn't that fussed with it, but now I put it in the freezer till its really cold and drink it in a glass full of ice.

It's grown on me and at 6.5% abv it can give a slight buzz.  Lotus'sss sells it for 37 baht.  So yes it's cheap plonk.

Tried Lao Khao once... never again.  Too bloody dangerous in many ways.

Also tried a Indian whisky that's sold in Lotus'sss.  Brown Barley Whisky 41% abv and it's actually not bad. 299 baht for 700ml.  A little sweet and the oak flavour isn't as strong as brand name whiskeys.

I'm usually a dark Rum drinker but Sang Som doesn't really cut it.  Capt Morgan is just too sweet.  Old Monk run from India is nice but I've not found it here.

Love Belgium beers but not the cost in Thailand.

I've finished my experiment....it was a success, Dunkel 490ml 4.9% + 30ml Vodka 40% makes a nice 6.9% drink, try it

I'd probably prefer the IPA with a vodka shot.  Unfortunately they don't sell the IPA (or Dunkel) locally anymore. Lots of Kulov vodka about tho.

I don't see the point of alcohol free beer, I'd rather just drink water or something
