Thailand’s first F1 race planned for Bangkok’s Chatuchak by 2027
The Australian F1 Grand Prix is on a street circuit in Melbourne. It is run very well, but causes a lot of issues for the locals - and it costs a bomb to run. If the (nearly) civilized West has issues running this event successfully - I seriously doubt Thailands' ability to pull this off. -

BB gun vendors spark shootout on Pattaya Walking Street - video
Photo via Facebook/ เป็นข่าวพัทยา By Petch Petpailin More than 20 police officers intervened in a violent clash between two BB gun vendors on Pattaya Walking Street yesterday, December 17. Fortunately, no innocent people were injured in the incident. Officers from Mueang Pattaya Police Station were called to Pattaya Walking Street on the night of December 16 after a 43 year old BB gun vendor, Chart “Job” Sukboondaeng, punched another vendor, 43 year old Nirun “Jab” Saengprason, in the face. The police took both men to the station, issued charges against them, and then released them. Unfortunately, another altercation, this time more severe, broke out between the two men at around 4am on the following day, December 17. More than 20 police officers rushed to the scene and found a group of frightened foreign tourists. Chart managed to flee the scene, leaving his rival Nirun with a cut on his body. Nirun told the police that Chart threw a knife at him, causing the wound. Nirun explained that Chart previously argued with his employees and that the disagreement had been ongoing for some time. On the day of the incident, Nirun saw Chart walking past his shop and approached him to resolve the issue, but they ended up in a heated argument. The argument quickly escalated into a physical altercation, prompting police intervention, as mentioned above. However, Chart did not end the issue at the police station but returned to Nirun’s shop with his friends, leading to another fight. Nirun admitted that he carried both a knife and a gun for protection and insisted that Chart and his friends were also armed. Some witnesses shared videos of the fight with the police, showing Nirun wielding both a knife and a gun while daring his rivals to fight. Tourists were seen fleeing the scene for their safety, causing chaos. Fortunately, only Nirun was injured in the incident. Officers are now searching for Chart and his friends, who were involved, to bring them to justice. The details of the charges and potential punishment have not yet been made public. Further investigations will be conducted at each BB gun store in the area, as they may pose a danger to visitors on Walking Street. Source: The Thaiger -- 2024-12-18 -

How Has Thailand’s New Income Tax Law Affected Your Spending Habits?
Speaking of Wise, they caused me an embarrassing situation today and a big waste of time. I paid for something in a shop to the shop's Thai business bank account. Money shows in the app it has been delivered. It was even transferred from the same bank to their account using the same bank as theirs. Money doesn't show up in their account. They the shop spent an hour on the phone with their bank trying to locate the missing payment. Eventually I gave up because I was getting tired of the awkward situation and so I paid the shop a second time using a local bank transfer so that I could leave the shop and I asked them to refund the second payment to me once they receive the Wise payment. When I left the shop I planned to get in touch with Wise once I got home. After I was at home, I rechecked the app and now the payment showed up with a different status and that the shop would be receiving the payment in their bank account within another 12 minutes. I was planning to call the shop and ask them to please recheck their account balance again, but then the shop messaged me to tell me they got the money and would be refunding my local bank transfer to me. It all worked out fine in the end, but it was a huge waste of my time and the shop girl's time and a somewhat stressful situation, not to mention I ended up making the payment twice as I didn't feel comfortable leaving the shop without knowing that they had received payment from me. This made me think twice about using Wise to transfer any business payments in the future that need to be received within a timely manner. The app did tell me the funds would arrive in seconds when I initiated the transfer and then gave me confirmation that the money was successfully in their account. This whole Wise screw up sent me on a wild goose chase, when in reality the shop didn't receive the money from Wise until about 3 hours later and not within seconds. A word to the Wise! -

British mother’s tourist warning after drugs kill daughter in Thailand
Absolutely. Surely there must have been SOMETHING in the room with traces of something(s) they ingested. I bet they had alcohol in their systems too. -

60-day visa exemptions are now unlimited at land borders
1. In ordinary language and in legal terms, everything that is not limited is unlimited, without the need to explicitly specify that it is unlimited. 2. Yes, immigration officials at border entry points have the authority to deny a traveller permission to enter Thailand in accordance with Section 22 of the Immigration Act and to use their discretion in exercising this authority.
