Boozy Australian Tourist Restrained by Phuket Airport Police

Dramatic footage has surfaced of an inebriated Australian tourist being wrestled to the ground by armed police at Phuket International Airport in Thailand.

 

The intoxicated traveller was waiting for his flight home on September 22 when chaos erupted after a waitress refused to serve him more alcohol at an airport bar. Clad in shorts and a t-shirt, the Aussie staggered out, subsequently harassing fellow passengers, sparking a commotion.

 

A group of police officers and airport staff quickly surrounded the unruly Aussie in an attempt to subdue him, but his drunken belligerence only escalated. The shocking video shows officers tackling him to the ground, with one officer repeatedly using a baton to keep him subdued.

 

An Australian bystander who filmed the incident described the rowdy man as "very drunk."

 

The serving airport waitress expressed her dismay over the Aussie’s behaviour.

“I was really disappointed to see any Aussie, or anyone for that matter, behave this way. He was cut off at the bar and then tried to pick a fight with anyone who even glanced his way,” she said.

 

The witness further explained how the unruly tourist was eventually restrained and held in a bathroom corridor, where he continued to harass passers-by.

 

“When he was on the bench in handcuffs, he would start on anyone who made eye contact. I called him a flop and an embarrassment. He didn’t take it well,” the witness added.

Phuket Airport officials confirmed that the inebriated tourist was detained in an airport cell to sober up, causing him to miss his flight and rebook another, reported the Daily Mail. A spokesperson for Phuket International Airport gave an update on the incident.

 

“The holidaymaker in the video was very drunk and aggressive. Police apprehended him at Gate 11, detained him until he sobered up, and then resolved the situation.”

 

A sobering end to what should have been a smooth voyage home for the hapless Aussie.

At least he was leaving Thailand, happy ending to the woeful episode. Getting quite a regular thing now with Aussies, they just don't know how to behave themselves, actually they need vetting before leaving Down Under.😏

Tough guy, as he waited until he was in handcuffs to say anything. Aussies are starting to be a real pain in the butt in Thailand as well. Too much bad behavior from them lately.

Like I've said many times before, they should stop serving alcohol in the airports, or on the planes. If you show up appearing/smelling drunk at TSA (security checkpoint), you can choose to take a breathalyzer, or turn around and go back.

Please, go away with your knee jerk puritanical thoughts. Some of us like to enjoy a drink on a plane and 99%+ of people don't cause a disturbance. Don't see why passengers should be denied services that have existed since commercial aviation began.

I wonder if there is a market for no-alcohol flights, other than the usual...Kuwait/Saudi? .....No kids flights must be a big seller.....I'd pay a premium for those.

I pay a premium to stay away from some USA airlines (Spirit, Frontier, Southwest, etc.) that cater to the Greyhound bus in the sky types, not willing to rub elbows with the unsavory.

The problem is there are way too many of them, and the last place we need them is in an airport, or on a plane.

A few years ago I flew from Brisbane to Darwin.

It was a night on Virgin Blue.

Most of the passengers were Aussies.

And most of them were drunk and causing problems for the crew.

I had nothing but admiration for the crew in how they handled the drunks.

 Australian's have drinking problem culture.'

The more they drink. The more loud and obnoxious they are.
