Phuket taxi driver hits foreign man on airport zebra crossing
This delves right into the entire system of the ease of obtaining a driving license, the complete disregard for pedestrians, the lack of care and respect for other road users & traffic laws, and the ignorance of driving off when an accident has occurred. So many accidents at padestrian crossings in thailand defies belief... -

A vote for Trump is a vote for Putin / Orban / Kim Jong Un
That's funny to me as my primary source in the OP was from a republican. This isn't a democrat / republican issue. It's about a global divide of pro democracy vs. pro autocracy, and tragically the US may be very close to voting in an enemy of democracy. Pick a side. I have. Trump has. The consequences of this struggle are epic. -

North Korea Claims 1.4 Million Volunteer for Army as Tensions with South Korea Escalate
I do not think S. Korea has much to worry about except for the possibility of Nukes being used. The N. Korean soldiers have already shown their faces ( I mean their butts running away) in Russia as soon as they saw real action in fighting. 18 fled and are being hunted down even now. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2024/10/15/7479792/ Also, if Un really has so many volunteering it is most likely to be a forced volunteer or for face value only. Or perhaps the N. Koreans volunteering are doing so they will have a chance to flee N. korea. -

Phuket taxi driver hits foreign man on airport zebra crossing
That's why pedestrians infact everyone should be vigilant at zebra crossings but if common sence for yourself worth and not demand your pedestrian right you be on , downside is you may wait a long while , just read a comment about driver putting his hazard light on at zebra crossings it's good but have to worry about people think tour broken down and attempting to over take, I told my nephew of someone flashes you in a cat it mean don't cross or pull out, that rules is silly and needs to be changed to , flash equals I acknowledge you so cross or pullout clears any doubts -

Phuket taxi driver hits foreign man on airport zebra crossing
before crossing any road, I was always taught to look right, then left, then right again ..... and if it's clear then hurry across. did the pedestrian rush out when traffic was flowing ? did the taxi rush through and didn't see him on the crossing ? -

Why are most movies released post-2000 unwatchable?
There have been many excellent movies made since 2000. If you're a movie buff, especially seeing you rarely leave your house, this should be easy for you to research. Do you have Netflix? -

Must Read Thailand's Central Bank Cuts Interest Rate to Boost Economic Growth
Lets see how the business persons that run Thailand like this. They want a strong currency, nothing else, to be able to buy their raw products and pay less, bring it in and charge more, thereby causing inflation to rise. Pay less for their kids studying abroad, go on there foreign trips, and save their money outside in their children name who holds a bank account. -

? Where to advertise for "Chaang Farang" ?
"Chaang" in Thai language means "handyman". This post asks where to advertise for a “chaang farang”, an expat handyman? This is a delicate topic: Not illegal for me to hire, but illegal for my fellow farang to do casual work. Work permit simply impossible. So, shhhh! Don’t tell anyone about this! I am not advertising here. Only asking where to advertise in Chiang Mai. Is there some “classified ad” bulletin board for such as this? Looking to hire a handyman for small, projects around the house. If you’ve had any experience with local handymen, you’ll understand why I’m seeking a farang to do this work. Language is not the problem. My Thai ability is enough to be understood for most needs. The problem is finding good workmanship. It’s not that locals are lazy. They are willing enough. But they have no concept of what constitutes careful work. Examples of projects that I will put in the ad: drill 4 holes and and use wall anchors to mount winding reel for garden hose climb a ladder to remove solar light for battery replacement, then put it back up again. replace faucets in kitchen and bathroom sinks. extend electrical cord for kitchen fan. set up a small water fountain in front yard. set up “drip” irrigation system for outside plants. There’s more, but that’s enough for the purpose of this post. Where to post an advertisement for this purpose?? Thank you. -

Phuket taxi driver hits foreign man on airport zebra crossing
I agree. Here one more personal "adventure". Yesterday in front of Immigration Chiangmai. My wife and I wanted to cross the street using the zebra crossing. A uninformed policeman offered us assistance and stopped the traffic for us. Not easy. Some motorbikes did not stop though the police tried to . The other side of the street (dual carriage) we had to do alone (too far for the policeman?). Like hares running when it seems appropriate. After decades living here it's always exciting how reckless Thais are driving. (I suppose farangs also mingle with these potential killers on the streets) -

Phuket taxi driver hits foreign man on airport zebra crossing
Thai drivers do not know what a Zebra crossing is, because they are not taught the Highway Code as we are in the Real world. They dont know what it is. Same as a red light on a Zebra crossing.......to them its a pretty light that shines 2 colours, red and green. Take into account also, the Me, me, me attitude of Thais in general. No one else matters........dont get in my way....especially if you are walking or on 2 wheels. -

A vote for Trump is a vote for Putin / Orban / Kim Jong Un
It's a troll move. That was obvious to everyone but openly revealed and laughed about on Kremlin state tv. They are particularly amused that any fools in the west actually believe that! -

Pattaya Council Plans Traffic Overhaul with One-Way Streets, Odd-Even Parking
Well, I hope they are putting signs in proper English because in Bangkok on these odd/even parking days the signs are all in Thai and confusing as hell when some English translation is posted.
