I do as my blockage is still there but at least the toilet is usable.

 

The honey truck crew are sure that the can fix the problem, but it means isolating the water supply, easy, removing the water tank, fairly easy, if they need to remove the toilet, that will be difficult as it is concreted to the floor 20 odd years ago and not put in with Rawl bolts and anchors.

 

They will have to remove some tiles, 2 or 4 I think and possibly the wall before getting to the short pipe connected between the U bend of the toilet and the down pipe T junction from the upstairs toilet, which is where I think the problem is.

 

They will probably have to replace that short pipe and hopefully not have to remove the toilet completely and dig up part of the floor as well.

well 2 point  firstly  this is Thailand and they often seem to think that water runs uphill ( ie not built correctly)   and second if  the ground that the tank overflows to is already flooded ( due to lots of heavy rain) then where is the water going to ?

Water runoff having nowhere to go does not stop the toilet flushing only blocked pipes do that. Thailand tends to use small piping to run to septic tanks.

I think the sinks and showers use maybe 1.5", but the toilets 4" - 6".

I seem to remember that, watching my house being built, the plastic pipes laid in the concrete floors, for the toilets were less than 6" may have been 4"

TBH I cannot remember the size, as it is more that 20 years ago that the house was built.

Sinks and showers run off to the main drains and not the septic tank.

usually a separate tank for sink and shower water, separate from the septic toilet tank

Bionic Waste Digester in a blue and white packet is one I've bought locally before, but caustic soda is probably the best and I've never noticed it in the shops.  I've ordered it from Lazada.

Caustic soda as well as some other acidic unblocker (that they told me not to mix with caustic soda in the pipes as they react together) is available in those thai markets. Just bought from Phratamnak Soi 5 market few weeks ago.

That will totally destroy the bacteria that's supposed to digest the waste material. You need to add EM to restore the bacterial content.

Good point. I used to try to unblock grey water drain, though had to get the snake guys to do it at the end  as chemicals did not help.
