Smoking near a food stall on the street is not quite the same as smoking in Mcdonalds when the law is considered . 

Throwing a bucket of water is i would say a far  more serious offence.

I find that most foreigners that smoke, many of them chain smoke ignore the law about smoking in bars etc., I had a couple of these ignorant people sit next to me in a shop bar and I said to them your not allowed to smoke here go and stand out side if your that desperate. There was no smoking signs on the walls.

They turned on me and told me to f off, they expect people to breath their second hand smoke .

Being an ex smoker for over ten years I cant stand the smell of it , it was in your face , blatantly rude, just like the guy in the post. I stopped because I was puffed out climbing 2 or 3 stairs, I knew it was killing me, I have seen lots of these ignorants die from heart attacks and loose there feet from smoking from poor circulation. I loved smoking when I did smoke but I realized luckily that is was them or me.

When I did smoke I always went outside so as to not annoy or harm others with my second hand smoke fumes.

Thankfully , UK is fairly strict about smoking now, so these scum think thy can come to Thailand and break the laws if thy want to.

In my opinion Thailand is far too casual about enforcing their non-smoking laws.  it would be very good if he law regarding smoking in bars was enforced.  Good little earner for RTP as well; let them keep all the fines they collect.

Exactly what change in visa rules are you referring to ?   There is not and never has been any visa regulations that would stop people  like this from coming here. 30 days visa exempt on arrival has been available since time immemorial , altering  that to 60 days has changed nothing. With tens of millions of people arriving here every year incidents like this are bound to happen occasionally its a racing certainty.   Just like the sanctimonious outpouring of outrage  from those who of course have never put a foot wrong themselves and can't wait to tell everybody else,

   The cigarette smoke would likely annoy her and her customers and if he really needed to smoke , he could walk for 20 seconds to sit on a bench away from everyone else .

   It is illegal to smoke in restaurants in Thailand or just standing outside the door of an establishment
