How does one "amass 50 million baht in damages?"

They perhaps amassed 50 million baht in ill-gotten gains.

Damages are for the court to decide how much to levy in penalties on a defendant. You don't amass damages unless yuou've been sued and lost time and time again.

You guys seriously need professional editors that catch this butchering of the English language.

In fairness I assume original story is in Swedish translated to thai then on to English but as you say a competent writer would have tidied it up before releasing said article

If they had all that money from scams, then why didn't they pay for an Elite visa? There is no logic to this story...

Tony

I suspect they did not want the added scrutiny these long stay Visas require, as opposed to a Visa Exempt entry.

Written in Thai by uneducated people who do not know how to write Thai very well.  Then they use Google translate and it can’t really understand their gibberish so it produces what we get to read.

Vlad is not a Swedish name. Russian maybe?

These two peskis could be impaled..The name is most common in Northern Greece especially among the Slavic speakers of Greek Macedonia. Also Vlad is just the source of the name “Dracula.” “Vlad the impaler”From Romania.🤔

You'd think they would keep their visas up to date so as not to arouse suspicion.....but then again, most criminals aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer hence why they end up in prison.....or dead.

I guess they never heard of Tony Kenway.

Unfortunately these two bad apples make life difficult for us, the majority of law abiding expats, in the form of draconian immigration regulations. Every time this happens it justifies their position of not giving us retiress permanent residence. Have to renew visa every year at the discretion of immigration. Have to report every ninety days. Have to get a certificate of residence for minor transactions. Have to show passport ... the list goes on. The reason they didn't renew their visas wasn't because of the money it was because they didn't want to be picked up for fraud. That simple!

We had a guy called Vlad drink in one of the bars I frequent on Samui. He had terrible asthma so we called him Vlad the inhaler.
