Former President Donald Trump has launched a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News, claiming that the network deceptively edited an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris to sway public opinion and unfairly bolster her image. Trump’s legal team contends that the alleged editing was intended to mislead voters by presenting Harris’ responses on the sensitive issue of the Israel-Hamas conflict in a favorable light for the Democrats.

The lawsuit, filed in the Northern District of Texas, alleges that CBS manipulated Harris’ responses during her “60 Minutes” interview with reporter Bill Whitaker to influence voter perceptions as the 2024 election approaches. According to the suit, CBS aired an extended, more complex response by Harris on October 6, during a “Face the Nation” preview. Harris reportedly commented, “Well, Bill … the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.”

However, the full broadcast on “60 Minutes” a day later presented Harris with a more streamlined answer, highlighting her statement that, “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

Trump’s attorneys argue that these selective edits, which were not made publicly available in their uncut form, are part of a broader CBS strategy “to tip the scales in favor of the Democratic Party” through news distortion that was “intended to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public.” The suit also references Trump’s prior public call for CBS to release the unedited transcript, which he claims would reveal bias and selective framing.

CBS responded to the lawsuit, refuting the claims as “completely without merit.” A spokesperson for the network stated that “60 MINUTES fairly presented the Interview to inform the viewing audience, and not to mislead it,” affirming the network’s commitment to responsible and unbiased journalism. CBS had previously acknowledged trimming Harris’ response, maintaining that it was a necessary edit to include more content within the program’s allotted time. “When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate, and on point,” the network had said on October 20.

The legal filing calls for a jury trial and substantial damages, alleging that CBS’s actions violate Texas laws prohibiting deceptive acts in business practices. Trump, who has previously declined interview requests from “60 Minutes,” has labeled the alleged editing as potentially “the Biggest Scandal in Broadcast History.” CBS has stated it intends to vigorously defend itself against the claims.

Very typical for one of the most litigious and insecure men in the world. He is NOT a tribute to our gender. Hoping he loses big on Tuesday and then is sent to prison. The world would be a far better place.

He is not a tribute to our species.

Why is there argument over a lawsuit. Clearly, CBS changed the reply of Harris making her look like she said something intelligent. Which given the reasons for the interview and the repercussions if her replies were not good directly relate to the elections which are made by the voters perception of the candidate. Then the changes they made were not made to shorten the time to make room for more questions as CBS stated. The fact that they absolutely refuse to release the unedited version lends credence that CBS is hiding something that may damage how people perceive Harris.

CBS is long known to side with Dems and shed them in a better light for the public to see. However, the lawsuit is going to be just the tip of the  iceberg I think.. If Trump wins the election, I hope he encourages the FCC to pull the license from CBS for misleading the public. It is about time someone went after the networks for biased reporting. They are supposed to be unbiased giving news and information without choosing sides or making opinions. Even the head of the FCC demanded the unedited transcript of the interview and was told no. What right does CBS have to hide this from the public or the governing body like the FCC?

I hope Trump wins the suit and hope that if he also wins the elections that he gets CBS off the air.

It is clear the replies she made for the edited and unedited version are different with both content and meaning. In the unedited reply she admits to her and the admin causing conflicts in the region. In the unedited one she does not and only uses double-talk. Saying a lot without any meaning.
