A knife wielding intruder was injured after being shot by police in a close range encounter at a factory where he was allegedly attempting to steal electrical cables. The incident occurred on November 2, at a factory located in Soi Buncha, Pak Khlong Bang Pla Kot Subdistrict, Phra Samut Chedi District, Samut Prakan.

According to Deputy Inspector Lt. Col. Dechachat Saruna, officers from Phra Samut Chedi Police Station responded to a report at approximately 01:30  from a factory security guard who witnessed the intruder attempting to cut and steal electrical cables.

Patrol officers Sgt. Maj. Aphiwat Prathumtri and Sgt. Patcharapong Boontor arrived on the scene and began searching the premises. As they approached the machinery room, the suspect, identified as 48 year old Khomsak, reportedly burst from a nearby door and lunged at Sgt. Patcharapong with a knife.

Sgt. Patcharapong stumbled back against a wall, with only 1.5 meters between him and the attacker, who advanced with a raised knife. With no other options, he drew his firearm and shot Khomsak in the right arm, disabling him and allowing the officers to restrain him. Rescue personnel provided first aid on-site before transporting Khomsak to a nearby hospital for treatment. The police later confirmed that Khomsak had recently been released from prison following a prior theft conviction.

Phra Samut Chedi Police Superintendent Col. Totsaphon Thongbai stated that Khomsak faces multiple charges, including night time theft, possession of a knife, resisting arrest, and attempted murder of an officer. Col. Totsaphon emphasised that the officers strictly followed safety protocols, wearing their uniforms and identifying themselves clearly. When Khomsak failed to surrender and attempted a close-range assault, the officers had no choice but to use their firearms to neutralise the threat without intending fatal harm.

The Provincial Police Commander has highlighted this case as an example of officer preparedness and adherence to tactical protocols. He expressed gratitude for the diligence of the officers in handling the situation effectively to ensure public safety and protect valuable property.

More time at the range needed.

Maybe he is a very good shot and hit the arm holding the knife? Something many policemen should learn to do.............."to neutralise the threat without intending fatal harm."

I shot 100 deer, so that theory is kaput.

Were the poor deer coming at you with knives? Or simply standing still in the place where they live peacefully.

Shooting defenseless Bambis with an optics equipped rifle is not the same as an adrenaline fueled self defense situation in the dark with (in all probability) a crap pistol.

But any real gun owner in the USA knows that.

BTW, you must be my age. If most states allow 2 deer a year, you have been hunting for 50 years and never missing. Great shooting.

Seven had a machete, 27 had AR-15's, 12 with crossbows, one a meat cleaver, 27 knives, 2 samurai swords, 12 compound bows, 11 were after female deer to breed, and one came at me with intent.

What for?

Well if he is telling the truth, which I doubt, he had lots of tasty meat. I would take good venison over beef anyday.

I mainly use a crossbow now. A policeman should be training constantly with his weapon in all types of situations, so it becomes second nature. If you're going to be a policeman, you need to do the job right.

OK, back to the basement now young man, mom is calling, let the adults talk about armed self defense. BTW, what type of deer you shoot with your crossbow, and where?

I fully understand that, and I took his side, thinking he aimed to stop and not kill. He might have missed his aim, which could have been center mass, but I'm on his side in this. I'm 68, and have hunted the past 51 years, missing 3 while here, and once I didn't get a deer because of choice.

Real tough guy.

i don’t believe him either.

Probably “shot at” a 100 deer.

The number 100 seems a bit made up.

Why do you assume I'm living in my basement with mom? She passed years ago, and I've been on my own since 20, married a few times, raised, and still am, 1 out of 6 kids. 95% bucks, New Jersey, New York, Texas. I had a federal fireams license working in Texas before I moved here, selling hundreds of firearms.

It's not a tough guy to shoot 100 deer. That's a hobby. Tough is what you make yourself training for 50 years. And I don't make anything up as what's the point?

You complain a lot and seem to struggling and not coping very well living in the land of smiles for a self confessed tough guy.

There are two types of toughness, mental and physical.

Fortunately I excel at both.

Well yeah, there are things called "limits" in the USA. Usually thats one in Archery, one in gun, and sometimes one in special muzzleloading season, and each season has lmits on what sex, age, can be taken.

Plus the cost. $100 for a tag in NY, $300 for a tag in Texas as non residents.  So at the most, you might get 3 in your own state, then another one in two other states, thats 5. 5 each year for 20 years. Expensive meat.

If the dude had said, hey, Im a deer hunter from NJ (hehe, popular sport there) and have shot 20 deer over the years, I wouldnt have called him out. 100? Give me a break.

And then add something stupid about armed self defense.

From your posts, you're in denial of at least one of those. Complaining is how things change for the better, and how to relate to others that have been down the same roads you have. The only reason I'm here is waiting for the right time to move with my daughter to a better place , for both her and myself.

Complaining is just annoying others.

You will fit in back in the USA, please hello to Karen for me.

Tough men don’t complain.

I lived in New Jersey 30 years, Texas 32. In Texas, you can shoot 3 bucks and two does a year. I rarely shot any does. New Jersey has a very liberal amount of tags available, especially after I moved away, because it has a very high deer per square mile total, many of those living in and around cities. Deer hunting is very popular in New Jersey. Most of the deer I've shot have been from 1985 to now, in Texas. Just a resident license wherever I hunted besides three years in New York state. And the meat does turn out to be kinda expensive when you add up all you need for a hunting season. I'm not sure what you mean about something stupid regarding armed self defense.

Complaining, again, is how everything that's wrong is changed. Sorry that's over your head. I fit anywhere I live, as I'm respectful to everyone.

Not convincing me, work on others though who are clueless about hunting in the USA.
