saintdomingo Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Due to hospital treatment to my throat I have difficulty getting food down, Smash (or whatever it's called now) would be ideal. Anyone seen anything like it here.

Mutt Daeng Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Makro used to sell Smash, not sure if it still does. 1

Yagoda Posted November 5 Posted November 5 If I would have seen this a few weeks ago, I would have donated my stash of Idahoan that I bring back from the US ever few months, but alas, my larder is now empty. How is Smash compared to Idahoan?
saintdomingo Posted November 5 Author Posted November 5 No idea sorry. Like I said previously it is of interest now because radiotherapy treatment to my throat is making it difficult to get food down.

lungbing Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Surely making your own mashed potatoes would be easier. You can always add extra butter or milk to thin it down and then put it through a sieve to smooth it. 2
Pdavies99 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I can promise you that boiled potatoes mixed with butter and milk, then one of those electric mini whisks, best with the blades as shown here, can make almost the same. (I think I bought years ago in Big C) Good luck https://thehomelifters.com/products/mini-electric-whisk
rwill Posted November 7 Posted November 7 (edited) As others have said you can get Smash online. There are some other brands too. Makro carries McGarrett instant mashed potatoes. Also Makro has some frozen mashed potatoes, Farm Frites, that are pretty good. They both seem to be out of stock at the moment though. Edited November 7 by rwill 1 1
ronster Posted November 7 Posted November 7 Seen McGarrett in Tesco and tops . It doesn't taste too bad for what it is . Usually use it when can't be bothered peeling and boiling potatoes for a chicken and gravy dinner.
garygooner Posted November 7 Posted November 7 The other day I saw that Villa has Mcgarretts instant mash at 60 baht.

richard_smith237 Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I can understand you may not want to be doing this yourself if recently recovering from serious illness and treatment. Is there anyone to take care of you ? ... Could they 'boil' a load of potatoes' and make real mash en-bulk ? - Skin & Boil the potatoes - Mash them with cream (or full fat milk) & butter - Blend it and push it through a sieve to ensure no lumps. ... Freeze some of it, keep some in the fridge, then make it when you are ready ? The reason I suggest this alternative is 'real mashed potatoe' would not contain the chemicals that 'dried Smash' or their equivalents do. Otherwise, as suggested - Britshop: Smash at 275 baht https://britishop.com/product/smash-the-original-instant-mashed-potato-360g?srsltid=AfmBOoogmz4-ZacNj4g_Rh2F3U3liq6eqplfIRMggcRxJNML77zChR1c Lazada: Varios Mash-powders - varied prices (from 135 baht upwards) https://www.lazada.co.th/tag/mashed-potato-powder/ Makro: 100g isntant Mash (51 baht) https://www.makro.pro/en/p/155188-7204434772163 1

Due to the fact that I'm not up to going out, the Mrs isn't up to understanding what I'm talking about, that's almost what I'm doing.
