The crash occurred on the Sukhumvit Road near a PTT gas station in Si Racha, Chonburi Province, a Grab delivery rider lost his life after his motorcycle collided with a parked ten-wheeler truck on the roadside. Authorities from the Si Racha Police Station responded to the scene following reports of the fatal collision, which occurred in Moo 4, Surasak Subdistrict, on the inbound lane to Laem Chabang.

 

Upon arrival, police and rescue teams from Sawang Prateep Rescue Unit found a white Hino truck, license plate from Buriram, parked on the shoulder of the road. Behind the truck lay a red-and-black Honda Wave motorcycle, license plate from Chonburi, wedged into the truck’s rear. The motorcycle’s rider was confirmed dead at the scene, with a Grab delivery bag visible on the back of the motorcycle. The rider, identified as Mr. Settapong Somkla, 46, had sustained a broken neck, a severe forehead injury, and a fractured left leg.

 

The truck driver, Mr. Chalad Janruang, 40, informed the police that he had parked on the roadside to visit a convenience store at the gas station. He stated that just as he was walking towards the store, he heard a loud impact and turned to see the motorcycle had collided with the back of his truck. Mr. Chalad immediately called for emergency services to assist at the scene.

 

The police took Mr. Chalad in for questioning to further investigate the incident’s cause. Rescue workers transported Mr. Settapong’s body to Laem Chabang Hospital for an autopsy.

Probably not.   A lot of the older Trucks have terrible rear lighting too and often at least one Brake Light is not working.  Indeed; it is possible to see multiple Vehicles of all types every day with defective bulbs on Thai roads.
