Last month I tried to transfer 5K USD - 7 days. I was able to stop the transfer. I then did 1k, in seconds and again, but tried the last 3K as one transfer. That 4 days. I should note after the above I then had my usual 1k amount came up with a 7  day time estimate when I transferred. It got here in 5 - yippee skippy.

As I was about to send over a much larger amount. I needed a date up front. No real answers, after an e mail conversation with them. I ended up doing a wire transfer from my US Bank to Bangkok Bank. And if I had to transfer a larger amount again that would be the way I would go, not through WISE. Although obviously WISE would be cheaper.

I've used them for 5 years. Great service. Now, could be here in seconds or days. No clue as to why.

It is no big deal as long as you are not transferring the money in order to help someone who urgently needs it.

Regrettably any transfer from overseas is never going to be guaranteed to arrive urgently.

It is usually coming within seconds if not too big (too big is always a variable) from the right source to the right source.

if you need to guarantee the best possible outcome then transferring bank to bank (preferably within the same bank) in Thailand has the highest chance of success.

other than that the method with a virtual guarantee is handing cash in person,

Just last week I noted the Same continous problem same excuse as always although they continue to advertise lower fees faster transfer.

First, I use Bangkok bank, years now Ive done large transfer 10,000 USD 24 hours. A few months back 10,000 USD, 4 days.

High/Lower amounts previous if I do 1000 USD or above 24 Hours, if lower it comes in seconds!

Not for me the last 6 month regardless it indicating 20 seconds I push submit response 4 days!

No holiday, no weekend here or abroad.

Ive heard only bank is Bangkok, my brother uses Bangkok also dont have problem so that theory doesnt hold water.

What is true as op noted getting worse!  Ive not had one transfer last six month come in seconds and I do 3 a month.

They are not at all what they used to be. My transfers from the USA to Bangkok Bank formerly took about 24 hours over the past 6 years. The fastest ever was 8 hours. This year all 6 transfers have taken a full 6 or 7 days. Now, always says my money is taking longer than expected to get to them. The good news is, I'm never in any rush for the money and they always give me the rate I locked in at.

I have been told that the amount of time it takes to get a transfer completed on Wise depends not only on the amount, but the country of origin. Is it true that transfers from the USA take longer due to banking laws? Does anyone have first hand knowledge as to whether or not banking laws play a factor in international transfers?

I've just spent 4 working days setting up a Wise PHP account. In order to do this you need proof of address in Philippines. Like KYC, it's not easy! They wouldn't accept my rented condo address as they said it was advertised on Airbnb which they don't accept, even though I didn't book it through them. They wouldn't accept a letter addressed to me from HMRC, to my address in Philippines as my name was only initialized, not printed in full. They wouldn't accept my utility bills because of discrepancies in the address. Eventually they accepted my BDO bank statement with my complete name and address on it, something I had to set up with BDO in person, as they had a Thai address for me. It got really stressful. But great result in the end. I've a large amount of PHP I want to move to Thailand and am now able to do so from BDO, online. Set it up in Wise then switch to BDO app and fill in destination bank details and amount as per Wise's instructions. Instantaneous!

Why bother with all that? I transferred to my Maya account and they didn’t ask me a million questions. And i pulled PHP out of the ATM with my Maya card.

I want to move PHP out of my Philippines bank into Wise, then into one of my Wise accounts. £, $, or €. I don't want PHP outside of Philippines, except in a Wise account.

Bangkok Bank has a bad reputation for holding on to funds until the next day, as I suspect as someone else said, to maximise profits.

Come on that's rubbish, the reason there is a delay to 2pm next day is due to the manual process of specific transfers being posted as International

After I clear the cache I can't login. It says my account may have been disabled. Wtf?

I suspect this the case.

Last week I did a transfer of $5000 Canadian to my Wise multi currency account. It took about 24 hours.  Pretty much the same time as it would take 4 years ago.

No change noticeable in timing in that case for the transfer to take place.

Further Australian $ have been transferred to my Wise multi currency account routinely every month or so for more than the past 6 months.   Again, less than 24 hours for each of the transfers to take place.

As noted in the quote - I suspect the time it takes to get a transfer completed on Wise depends not only on the amount , but also the country of origin (and country of destination  in other cases).

For 2 months now, my transfers (euro to baht) have taken 24 hours instead of the usual 24 seconds, or minutes, as was the case for the past 5 years.

I have contacted Wise repeatedly because they were not exactly willing to provide explanations for these delays.

Reading between their lines, and all the blah blah, it appears that these new delays are here to stay.

In other words, Wise is now behaving like a regular bank, keeping its customers' money as long as possible, especially overnight, in order to rake in interest money.

On top of the big step backwards taken by Wise, it doesn't help that they haven't judged necessary to inform their customers of this significant change, but rather keep on pretending that everything is as usual.

Wise can only transfer Baht to you when a counterpart, a Thai, has deposited the fitting amount.

Thats why, when you send 50.000 Euro its just not there and u have to wait for the banks to go through.
