Just shows how inept the local police are at identifying foreign sex workers.

These foreign  people has staked out their own territories close to the police station to the disadvantage of local Thai  people.

Pattaya, the world prostitution hub! The place to be avoided.

That's really unfair ....the unspoken introduction and marriage bureau never gets a mention.

If they weren't working bar and you weren't looking for a wife for the night how else would you meet?

In an incident that unfolded near Pattaya Beach on November 5, when police were called to break up a brawl between two groups of foreign nationals. The fight, allegedly sparked by competition over illegal sex work in the area, involved several Uzbek women who had reportedly divided into rival factions to argue over territorial boundaries.

The incident took place at the entrance of Soi 13/4 on Pattaya Beach Road, where authorities found two groups of Uzbek women engaged in a heated dispute, drawing the attention of tourists and local bystanders. Police quickly intervened, discovering that both sides had sustained minor injuries. The individuals involved were taken to Pattaya City Police Station for further questioning.

The situation escalated when one of the foreign men involved, described as tall and heavyset, resisted arrest and became confrontational with officers. Police were forced to subdue him, placing him in handcuffs before escorting him to the station.

Local resident Mr. Kiranuwat, 42, who works nearby and witnessed the incident. He explained that the conflict allegedly arose when a newcomer from Uzbekistan encroached on the territory claimed by established groups. Unhappy with the newcomer’s presence, the regulars reportedly called in a group to confront her, leading to a violent altercation in front of shocked tourists.

Following the incident, police questioned all parties involved and found that neither side wished to press charges. Officers took photographs, documented the identities of those involved, and released them without further action.

This episode has intensified concerns among residents and visitors alike about Pattaya’s ongoing issues with illegal sex work. Despite regular patrols by Pattaya’s tourist police, local sources report that both Thai and foreign individuals continue to operate along the beachfront, openly soliciting tourists in defiance of the law.

Sigh.
If you'd been here more than a day you'd know that pimps have been importing hookers from Uzbekistan for decades.

The usual ruse was to bring them to Thailand as tourists, take their passports and put them on the street to sell their "goods".

Many were not "prime" but ! They could usually do pretty good because they had a winning strategy. They'd saunter up and down Walking Street (or other areas) and look for old, white guys sitting alone in bars.

And they'd go talk to them. In English. Which it seems many Uzbekis learn in school.

So old Joe Brown, who doesn't understand Thai - or "Thaiglish" - and isn't doing well with the ladies suddenly has a "white" girl smiling and speaking to him in his own language. One hand on his leg and he's as good as bedded.

I know this because I used to know a lot of bar owners and managers (mostly Thais) and asked them what was the attraction because most of those women were just plain scary. (The better looking ones end up in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The "OK" looking ones end up in Budapest or Amsterdam. The scary ones end up in India or SE Asia.)

And think about it. YOU go to Thailand because you like "exotic" flavours that aren't readily available (or as cheap) back home.

Well, a lot of Thais - and Japanese and Koreans and Chinese - also like "exotic" flavours and to them, white (and black) girls are "exotic".
That is also why you often see a lot of (equally scary) Nigerians trolling those areas and for the same reason.

And it used to be, back between 2004-2010ish, that every 3-4 months there'd be an article in the Pattaya Mail (and on ThaiVisa) about the police "rounding up" a crew of Uzbeki hookers, charging them and then deporting them.

It happened so often and such regular intervals that it became apparent it was a scam.
(I was forced to actually do a post once listing all the news articles over the previous 2 years because some infantile, intellectually challenged, inbred mouth breather called me a liar when I commented on yet another story about yet another "round-up" and sure enough, over the previous 2 years there'd been a story every 3-4 months.)

My theory was that the pimps would bring in a fresh batch of hookers and take their passports. In the beginning they'd be good earners, hoping to "buy back" their passports and return airfare quickly.

But then they'd start earning less (or keeping more for themselves), maybe when they realized they'd been screwed (literally).

And when they weren't earning enough to make it worthwhile, the pimp(s) would notify "someone" at Soi 9 and suddenly there'd be another round-up and the "old crew" would be locked up and deported.

And a couple days later a new crew would be on the streets.

It's almost funny that there are enough of them that they have "territories" and try to defend them.

And the police obviously know what is going on - and obviously look the other way. I guess it's not "that time" of the year (yet) for another round-up.

As if there weren’t enough Thai girls on the streets, the Police are allowing other nationalities too ? I knew there were Russian girls, seen one in a condo I was renting, Phuket, horrible rude person but pretty . Mentioned it to my neighbour and he told me that there was a club on Bangla rd that had all Russian prostitutes. I somehow doubt this was owned/ managed by Thais , so it’s Russian backed and allowed to operate in plain sight. This was 20 years ago by the way.

Since then, obviously have seen many in Pattaya, lots were working , probably legally, on those condo sales shops in Central Festival Pattaya.

So why is this happpening in full sight of the police/immigration, of course hand outs etc, but I believe it’s a very bad situation letting the city be overrun by girls from everywhere. Plenty of Africans in Bangkok, that’s bad enough, where is this all going to lead to ? A few headlines in the national newspapers would help.

Without further action is lazy speak for 'do nothing'.

Did they not check permission of stay/visa status? We don't need these foreign pros and what sounds like  a pimp brawling on the streets, sullying the image of our family friendly, world class resort town!

I prefer staying at Jomtien beach in South Pattaya, it seems more family friendly and

my relative also lives there so we do not have to go far to visit each other. I also like staying in Hua Hin

when i am in Thailand, both places have less ait pollution than Bangkok.

This is nothing.  Starting back in about 2005 or when Russia got a lot of relief on visas by Thailand the number of Russian women that worked on Walking Street handing out papers, and fliers for various clubs there really expanded.  Once I asked one if she had a visa and a work permit.  It drew a lot of attention from her "handlers" so I moved on.

The local police maintain there is no prostitution in Pattaya.
