Guardian is always good for a laugh at these times.  The opening paragraph sold me and it continues to entertain all the way through with its ridiculousness.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2024/nov/06/trump-wins-election-consequences-despair-america

"Today is a day of despair, and it would be futile to tell those who fear and grieve for what is to come in America that they will be OK. It would also be dishonest: many of us, in truth, will not be OK."  🤣

This was a good one:

"The last eight years, four under Trump’s governance and four under what American politics has become due to his influence, have prompted tremendous struggle and suffering."

Try due to the left's utter hatred for Trump and obsession with identity politics.

Like this, but at the end they say "Look what Trump did!":

Wat : r/funny

They have been doing it a long time - they didnt stop in 2016 and they wont stop now.

That would mean admitting they were wrong - not going to happen.

Quite sad way to spend your retirement and final days. So many positive things to dwell on.  But I completely agree with you. You can block but they won't stop.

If you are interested in my opinion ( I very much doubt you are) I think the American electorate primarily voted along racial lines. The results will be very bad for America.

I feel sorry for those of colour, immigrants, those who rely on the Affordable Care Act for healthcare, along with anyone who is supported in any way by any form of welfare provision. The next few years are going to be terrible, perhaps for some lethal.

If you read the demographic breakdowns on the election, you'll find that more young African American males and Latino and Hispanic voters moved from the D side to the R side in this election than in previous elections.

Trump's campaign experienced gains in the so-called "minority vote", despite running against a candidate that many would describe as being a minority.

I present to you Letitia James in full melt down, rambling incoherently. The looks on her face are priceless she can't believe Trump won.

Wonder if Merrick Garland might have neglected to warn Letisha, when she signed up for the lawfare cabal, that she could get swept up in a future special counsel  investigation into election interference and malicious prosecution if things didn't go their way

From the applause there were 5 people in the room.

Is it wrong to enjoy the misery of those we despise?

I thought there were people in the room but nobody applauded. Regardless as to the second point Conan the Barbarian has it right.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women".

am, what you and those currently crowing, would describe (deride) as a liberal. Elsewhere in the world I would be regarded as fairly conservative.

We've had to take the <deleted> from your lot for 4 years- it feels soooooooooo great to wake up on the first day of the fight back from woke liberalism.

MAGA, MAGA, MAGA.

Is it wrong to be so cheerful when half the voters in the US are crying?

Pull up a lawn chair bust out the popcorn sit back and watch the hysterical psychosis of the left intensify

That's usually a MAGA quality. The voters have held their noses and voted more for the GOP than for Trump in the belief that they will be better for the economy even though isolationism (seems to be the general direction) tends to damage competitiveness in the long run. Potty mouth will play golf and watch TV more than govern considering his past. One must admire his tenacity at 78, though it remains to be seen if he can last the full term. The red sweep was surprising but as one American theater critic said many years ago, " never underestimate the poor taste of the American public."

I want Ms. Harris to win. But if it is Mr. Trump again, per the song 'Mockingbird' from 1963:

I might rise above, I might go below
Ride with the tide and go with the flow

*************

and from 1888:

Oh, somewhere in this favoured land the sun is shining bright,
The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light;
And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout,
But there is no joy in Mudville—mighty Casey has struck out.
