Nakhon Ratchasima Illuminated by Phimai Festival Launch
Nakhon Ratchasima dazzles as the Phimai Festival begins, promising to uplift the local economy and draw tourists. This vibrant event kicked off with a stunning light and sound show at the Phimai Historical Park, under the watchful eyes of the Governor of Nakhon Ratchasima, Chaiwat Chuenkosum, and Phimai District Chief, Siwasek Sinthoram. Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the festival is larger than ever, running from 6th to 10th November, and offers a wealth of cultural and historical exhibitions. A highlight of the event is the traditional longboat race for the Royal Cup, attracting significant regional attention. The festival also provides a marketplace for local products, especially OTOP goods, stimulating economic growth and enhancing the province's tourist appeal. Governor Chuenkosum highlighted the festival’s dual focus on culture and economy, emphasizing its role in bringing people together. As the festival celebrates the region's heritage, it warmly welcomes tourists to explore the vibrant history and community of Nakhon Ratchasima. File photo for reference only -- 2024-11-07 -

Thailand's Expats Urged to Register with TRD for Tax, Says Expert
Last time I filled out form to get interest witholding back it led to 2 full days of inquisition at provincial tax office and having to submit copious documentation going back many years. My replies were definitly not consideted sufficient. ... and that was back before the rule about remittances was modified. -

Young Father Shot Attempting to Break Up Teenage Brawl in Ubon
In a tragic incident early on the 6th of November, a 25-year-old father tragically lost his life while bravely trying to intervene in a fight among teenagers at a molam event in Ubon Ratchathani's Khueang Nai district. The confrontation unfolded shortly after Rungtiwa, who had returned home from his job in Bangkok to visit family, stepped in to de-escalate the heated dispute. Authorities arrived to find a chaotic scene: a pickup truck with its mirrors shattered and a pistol magazine on the ground. Witnesses described how Rungtiwa managed to disarm the assailant, known as Yu, but not before Yu used a remaining bullet to fatally wound Rungtiwa. Rungtiwa was rushed to Khueang Nai Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A second victim, Art, suffered a knife wound but survived the ordeal. Yu, identified as a local to Mueang Ubon Ratchathani, fled the scene and remains at large. Just hours before the tragedy, Rungtiwa shared a poignant social media post featuring his infant son, expressing his commitment to being a devoted father. His untimely death has left a community in mourning and has sparked discussions on issues of violence and public safety at local events. File photo for reference only -- 2024-11-07 -

Dry Herb Vaporizer - to bring on inbound flight or not.
Don't bother. Or I should say, don't try it. Not worth the risk. You can buy all these things in Thailand. They may cost a bit more here, but it's by far the smarter way to go. Especially transiting through Japan with this stuff. Most likely there won't be a problem, but in Japan they don't have a sense of humor about these things. FAFO
