The (lying and deceitful bought-and-paid-for) mainstream media are commenting on how QUIET Donald Trump has been in the three days since winning the election. By all accounts, he's QUIETLY holed up a Mar-a-Lago apparently with classical music heard streaming from the grounds.

In contrast, on aseannow...

I recall reading much sooner if Trump's promise to stop taxing ss goes through.

Lower income recipients are already not taxed on SS!

You need to start that SS thread now!.  It's apparent you're not clear on the topic of taxes and SS.

Income tax on SS benefits has NO impact on the SS trust fund.  Only employment taxes have such impact.

Federal Income tax and employment taxes (FICA) are completely separate.  FICA taxes are currently the ONLY source of funding for SS.  FICA taxes are help separately from all other taxes but are invested in special Treasury bonds.

FICA in reality, should not be called "taxes".  Rather they should be called insurance premiums in the case of the medicare "tax" and the portion funding SS should be called annuity premiums.

Again, you're wrong.

But I'm not going to bother now to open a separate topic because unless something changes I don't think congress which I assume will be maga controlled will even send such stop tax on SS to the senate as it would be doomed to failure as 60 votes needed.

A bigger longer term story is the fact that there has been no fix to avoid big cuts later even without the SS tax ending.

Up till now, you could blame both parties for that lack of action.

With a 100 percent maga government, that will be 100 percent on maga.

I seriously doubt they will lift one finger to fix it.

The easiest fix to raise the caps on SS witholding is definitely not something maga ideology would like at all.

Donald Trump tax plans would deplete Social Security in just 6 years: report

Donald Trump's plans would drain Social Security years earlier than expected, report says

And by 2035, Social Security benefits would be cut by about a third for many Americans

Without that funding — combined with the many other tax cuts Trump has proposed — and the former president’s plans to impose massive tariffs and deport unauthorized immigrants, Social Security’s funding will be cut by as much as $2.75 trillion.

Ending taxation of Social Security benefits alone could cut between $850 billion and $950 billion from its cash reserves, while ending taxes on overtime pay and tips would slash anywhere between $150 billion and $1.05 trillion. Heavily restricting immigration and imposing tariffs would reduce the balance by between $300 billion and $750 billion, according to the CRFB.

The cessation of federal income tax on SS benefits has ZERO impact on the SS trust funds.  The income taxes currently applied to SS benefits goes into the Federal governments general revenue.  The SS trust fund currently does not draw from general government revenue.

Show me proof that I'm wrong.

Lots of people get this wrong..... you've just read some article written by someone who has it wrong.

https://www.ssa.gov/news/press/factsheets/HowAreSocialSecurity.htm#:~:text=Social Security is financed through,self-employed pay 12.4 percent.&text=The payroll tax rates are,up to a certain amount.

LOL.... I'm WRONG.  Sorry.... my mistake.  The taxes on SS benefits are contributed to the SS trust fund.  I thought all federal income taxes went into general revenue.

Jingthing is correct... I humbly submit my apology.

I almost feel sorry for the whiners and those that complain about Trump winning the election. It is a huge lose for them and they must be totally demoralized. Some universities are cancelling classes for these whiners to allow them to morn the loss of their word salad candidate. Lets have some empathy for them and realize that life will never be the same for them again. They will soon come around and realize that Trump also loves them just as much as his followers. Life is good!

Do you think there are not 6 Democrats in the Senate that would vote to eliminate taxes on Social Security?

Remember, no one believes the lying leftist media anymore.
