British Man Injured in Pattaya Road Rage Incident with Thai Driver

It's about a road rage incident in Pattaya between a foreigner and a Thai. Not to do with violence here, nor your ex or countries with terrorism and insurgencies.

I've been to Pattaya, I know the soi. I read the description of how the motorcycle was alongside the car. That would only happen if the rider decided to stay and confront, as he could easily have ridden away from confrontation on that soi, with the car being unable to follow.

Whereas you've veered off to posting links about Afghanistan and Burkino Faso... Just nothing to do with the incident nor Pattaya. Why are you even on the Pattaya sub board if you haven't ever stepped foot in the place?

Again, READ what others have said to me before my replies, then you'll understand how things go a little off but still relate to the topic at hand. Don't just look at my replies but at those before me I'm responding to, then you might say the same thing about them.Road rage here IS about violence here. You're making the mistake thinking you know what went down. No one here does, and can only assume.

Is there perhaps an element of some people faulting foreigners because better is  expected of them, but, excusing Thai's becuase thats 'just the way they drive'  ???

Absolutely

Perhaps this is why there is some form of 'anti-foreginer' bias amongst some when they complain about foreigners riding around on mopeds etc, breaking the rules and somehow ignoring the fact that a vast majority of Thai riders are worse.

It displays double standards.

IMO - if someone is riding like a t!t - they are riding like a t!t...  not much else to put it.

Try taking responsibility for you own behaviour. No one asked you about your ex nor a list of countries suffering from civil strife.

Do you feel the need to argue with everything and convince yourself you are right about everything?

I already gave my take on what I think happened, from the experience of visiting the area. But yet you feel the need to argue. Why is that? I'm guessing that's why you ex wanted to end you. 😉 Learn how to de-escalate. Take a breath.

I'm sure to get another word salad from you about how much you have read and researched. Save it.

Do the same as a thai if your out on a bike, be tooled up under the seat any metal for self defense of course.

I always carried a hammer under my seat when in the UK, and I also kept a pick axe handle at my door. All it would take is someone to threaten me with violence and I would not think twice about using them.

When you are alone in your house or car in a place like the UK, you have to look after yourself but in saying that I never had to use any of them.

Try staying out of the conversation if you're only going to skim, then nitpick others, certain others, and not everyone. This is what I replied to since you didn't bother to do as i asked..............".I'm from the US. I've seen 6 murders over 30 years in my  neighborhood there, and a gang shooting next to my house in Hartford CT 2 years ago. The US is by far the most violent country in the world, they were shooting each other and killing over mask rules during covid. one of the reasons I came here, where I have managed to live a peaceful life for 11 years".............................This is why I posted the link about violence here. Violence which is the crux of this topic. Comparing violence here to other countries is also relevant, but that escapes your thinking.

I know who you are and others here do also, and using a few usernames doesn't disguise the attitude and trolling behavior. Along with the emoticons you always use.  Plus the "word salad" phrase. Discussing a subject sometimes means arguing one's point against another's. Guess that also blew past you. Before you reply to someone, think first what you're going to say, because the way you and a few others here act, it makes a lot of us here think you're not an expat but a teenager that only likes to argue, or a narcissist that can't take the truth about themselves.

And by the way, my ex wanted to come back all along, because I treated her better than anyone ever had before. She kidnapped my child and hid her 4 times, which is called parental kidnapping, and offense in most countries that brings jail time, but here they don't care because they don't care much about children, especially the justice system. I don't go back with a narcissist abuser that gives her children up to grandma , meaning her two previous girls, and abuses both them and I. Assuming being another one of your traits.

Why do you feel the need to change usernames and follow others that have proven you wrong before, then with your low self esteem and narcissistic ways, can't help but coming back again and again just to argue? You act like a spoiled child, maybe the golden one, who thinks they're always right because mommy said you were the best. ......................NickyLouie said  "Shame back home we have these things called : sig sauer p226". Why didn't you comment on his words of "violence"? Because you're trolling me, following me around with three usernames because I proved you wrong months ago.  Hardly a keyboard warrior, just someone that can defend himself and his family, and use deadly force without thinking, like all fathers and husbands should. Better you logout and not come back, as this forum is for adult thinkers.

Good on the Thai gentleman for teaching him some manners

What a comment. Nasty, nasty person at best self hate at worst xenophobia.  I am British and have 5 tattoos so I must also be one of your despicables? Well I'm privately educates and was able to comfortably retier before I was 55. Second yes, I lived and still have a house in a village and over the 8 years I lived there: 15 year old shot in the head over a girl, man stabed to death at a party for insulting a man by giving one baht to the guy singing, another stabbed to death for giving advice to a guy whose wife had left him. Just before we built our home a young lad murdered in a drug dispute. All were thai on thai murders. Oh my lawyer friend "Barrister" also has tattoos. Never judge books by their cover. In that 8 years 3 drive by shootings into thai businesses through jealousy. Two people were shot, wounded. Then there was the shootout at a club, one dead! Take off the rose coloured glasses, your not in Kansas Dorothy or is it Toto?

I've actually never been wrong because i base my replies  on facts and not assumptions. And brown nosing gets caught out and people understand why others do it. Yes, locals do read this forum. And tell me where I've gotten anything wrong, because always doesn't apply to anyone, especially me, as I mentioned earlier. It surely does for you most of the time, assuming you know anyone here or how much they know, and basing your replies on your own lack of knowledge on subjects and a barstool philosophy.

I have a house in Nong Chok Bangkok and I also have a condo just off Naklua Road. I have a set rule when I hit Pattaya. I park my car in the condo car park and when I go out I use baht buses or walk, I only drive once every week to go to the supermarket to buy supplies and booze, any lighter shopping I walk. I've been going to Pattaya for the past 24 years and hasn't it changed. Ok there's plenty of farang scumbags here but they're out numbered but the trash from up north, that hit Pattaya for a job but never go to work once they they get on the booze with their jungle bunny mates.

In the heat of the moment, Mr. Arthit, in a display of anger, reportedly grabbed a metal rod, he later claimed in self-defense and struck Mr. Edwards, resulting in the British man’s injuries.

In other words he was losing the fight to a man who was a lot older than him and he couldn't stand the loss of face and used a weapon.

"Screwed, blued, and tattooed" was the classic Pattaya offering, still readily available in a few streets. I trust, given his traditionalist appearance, he's gratified that his holiday fully lived up to expectations.

Are these posters the quality tourists that they claim that Thailand needs in place of the Russians, Indians and Chinese?

Talking about carrying guns and baseball bats? What sturdy men we have here.

Getting to the topic rather than puffed up keyboard warriors praising themselves, the only acceptable reason for the Brit continuing to ride alongside the car, is if the driver caused some damage to himself or his bike. If not, then he was simply asking for trouble. His request was fulfilled.

Even if you can take care of yourself, de-escalate. Take note, 'hard men' and keyboard warriors alike.

Yeah...that's what happens. Does the Brit still feel like a winner?

It isn't the school playground anymore, with the little girls reporting to teacher. Someone can end you and be out on the street shortly afterwards.

My money is on that the perceived Brit ex convict turned pensioner escalated the situation.  Screaming, blasting the horn, flipping the bird etc.

All the violence you claim is primarily Thai on Thai.

I’ve never experienced anything you described.,  Not even once.

Soi Bukow traffic is chaos.  Leave your countries traffic regulations back home where they belong.

Right or wrong best to adapt to the local way of driving.

Give and take in traffic situations go a long way with the slight head nod and a little old fashioned patience.

The high season is upon us already and with it brings the self entitled, boozed up angry European yobs that think they own the place. Yesterday on a simple 5k ride, I had what could of escalated into the same as this. Pedestrians, wandering in middle of the road, blow horn and get a mouthful of hate back at me, another zebra crossing when lights are green for drivers another idiot(drunk) at 2pm starts the mouth of swearing at me...this idiots need to stay at home, you are not welcome here

Younger Thais & Brits both love a good ruck.

However the use of a metal bar in a public are is just nuts.

Using the horn is considered impolite in Thailand, other than a very short toot to attract attention.

It's HOT out there. Much cooler for you in your car or on your bike. Show some consideration for the delirious tourists 😇

How about the inconsiderate tourists that I have driven very slowly behind them waiting for them to move, get the feck out the way...I am aware of using the born hence why I wait for people to move but these aholes think they are something else...no, go home the lot of them, rude self centered waste of space
