Well, since we're talking about promises, let’s start with a classic: how about a commitment to actually preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution? Something he failed to do in his previous tenure.

Do you think anything has changed, or are we in for more of the same?

We're in for much much worse.

Which of his promises would you like to see him make good on?

Frankly I can't think of any, but the one that I hope he does not make good on is the import tariffs (tax hikes). They will utterly devastate  the economy, and create massive inflation.

The Springfield Haitians are not illegal.

The hearing process is adjudication by an immigration judge within Department of Homeland Security. It's unlikely Trump nominations have infiltrated DHS to the extent that the Rule of Law will be abrogated.

So undocumented immigrants will get a fair and impartial review. Depending on information regarding the immigrants presence in the US under US asylum laws, they may be granted permanent stay in the US or deported.

But the current problem is more judges are needed to shorten the time gor adjudication. POTUS Trump refused to increase number of immigration judges and subsequent MAGA congressmen continued refusal to government requests.

My information says you're wrong if Trump as he has promised revokes the emergency exception for Haitians in which case hearings can't save them.

So now we're only quibbling over numbers.

He will only carry out a very small percentage of his promises, just like in his last administration, so it's just a question of which ones he prioritizes.

He did a lot during his first mandate considering he had the senate and other agencies against him. On top of that he had to deal with two impeachments procedures. No war, good economy, low unemployment, energy independence and the Abraham Accords. For the first time since the creation of Israel Jews were allowed to travel to the Arab Emirates and do business and the Emiraties allowed to visit Israel and open trade delegations. He should have received the Nobel Peace Prize. What the last administration has done? Nothing, rien, nada except laundering money at taxpayers expenses in Ukraine and kissing Zelenskyy’s feet.

Trump can deport illegal migrants and false legal migrants as easy as Thailand, China or Japan do it. Some EU countries are starting the process as well as the UK.

Sanctuary cities may be one a thing of the past. Even Mayor Adams is complaining about the illegal migrants, their violence and cost to the taxpayers. The federal government has created the chaos and turned its back to the municipalities hardship.

If they are here based upon false asylum claims they have problems. If their claims are true it should be okay for them. The dems have always ignored, that these honest hard working people are basing their residency upon fraudulent asylum claims that play the system.. Bring in a judge and have their cases heard right on the spot.

well a problem with that immediate hearing - the immigration backlog is hundreds of thousands long - even legal immigrant hearings are backed up due to a shortage of immigration judges.

1) Worked for the UN in Haiti. So I have some experience wtih Haitians.  I will keep it short: Would not want a group of Haitians as neighbors. I will not say anything else to keep it respectful and dignified.

2) The process of deporting any foreigner from the US can be complicated and lengthy. On any given day CBP carries out deportations.  This is after a series of hearing because in the USA everyone is entitled to due process.  This includes foreigners regardless of their immigration status. CBP deportations can be simple as physically escorting a foreinger to an airport and walking then onboard  an international flight.  I was on a flight from LAX to S. Korea and a guy was escorted on board by two CBP officers.  It was a low key event. It's not like CBP and HSI are going into neighborhoods and chase people up and down alleys to detain them for deportaion.

Edit to add........

This was not a vote FOR Biden.

It was a vote AGAINST Trump.

The memory hole is deep.

The Biden administration on Friday announced new temporary protected status for Haitians who arrived in the U.S. on or before June 3, 2024, to shield even those who entered the country illegally from being deported back to Haiti, which remains in the grip of gang violence.

https://www.nbcnews.com/investigations/biden-admin-gives-protected-status-309000-haitians-rcna159438

"temporarily protected" ≠ legal

During his next term, Trump will be "temporarily protected" from acts committed prior.  Doesn't make his former actions legal.

Or does it?

Once Trump is in office and the new Senate in place, they can push through thousands of appointments for new immigration judges, vetted by the Heritage Foundation.

I imagine there will also be incentives for voluntary self deportations.

Do you support deportations?

As an American from birth, my ancestors were immigrants, look around the world today, negative birth rates, Japan had to ask retirees to return to work as not enough citizens to man the shops, same for other countries.  The US has always had a large number of legal immigration and will continue as they are necessary for cheap employment in ugly jobs!

Why do you think birth rates are low in the US?

Do you support deporting illegal aliens that have entered the country in the last few years?

12% decrease just over the past year - don't you ever google or are you waiting for a link?  I don't support any criminal acty - illegal entry is a crime!  On top of that, many of those countries from which these criminals come are receiving big bucks from the US to prop up that country's roles to help the poor but obviously no one has ever learned that you can't spend your way out of poverty yet those country's leaders are much richer today.   I for one say send the illegals out into the ocean or wherever....as a matter of fact, personally I was affected by the onslaught of immigrants - my wife wanted to take our daughter back to the US for college (accepted, scholarships etc and daughter is half American/Thai)  but, upon filing with immigration  as my wife, there was over a 500K backlog - they were averagging 35K processed a month - yep, took over a year for my wife's approval!  I am not a Trumper but some things he does promise, I can agree with while others not so much (i.e. project 2025, worldwide tariffs, some cabinet choices).  Have a great Loy Kratong.

Sorry, I meant to ask: To what would you attribute the decline in the birth rate?

Be thankful your kid did not get in.

No DT won't.  only Illegal ones.

What’s the difference between legal and undocumented immigrants?

Legal immigrants are foreign-born people legally admitted to the U.S. Undocumented immigrants, also called illegal aliens, are foreign-born people who do not possess a valid visa or other immigration documentation, because they entered the U.S. without inspection, stayed longer than their temporary visa permitted, or otherwise violated the terms under which they were admitted.

It’s easy to change the procedures to expedite hearings and deportation. Many countries are doing it or have done it.

Link for you.

https://www.politico.com/news/2024/10/03/trump-haitian-migrants-deport-00182328

Former President Donald Trump is promising to remove Temporary Protected Status and deport the Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio — an escalation in rhetoric against a community his campaign has targeted with misinformation for weeks.

“Absolutely I’d revoke it and I’d bring them back to their country,” Trump told NewsNation.

-----

I stand by my accurate charactization of Trump. Being reelected does not change what he is.

Thanks for the source.

But what part of TEMPORARY means they can stay here indefinitely? if the circumstances are determined to change that gave they the status then the status no longer applies and they need to return too their own country. Why do you try to spin is as he is going to remove those that immigrated legally and have a permanent status?

As I pointed out this is more of that twisted word syndrome that the left uses to try to win a point they can't win.

I won't address your need to spit vitriol and name call because it is a waste as it is clear you are incapable of rational thinking when it comes to anything to do with Trump or the republican party.

Haiti is still enduring extreme violence from gangs. It would be a human rights crime crime to deport them whilst the violence in ongoing.

emergency exception

It's not an emergency exception but the Constitution that all peoples in America are entitled to Due Process of the Law. A Presidential Order cannot override the Constitution.

But Trump has expressed intent to overthrow the US Constitution to become a dictator. That would be an interesting attempt as it would put Trump on conflict withe the US military that has sworn yo Uphold the Constitution.

Coups without military backing don't do well.

well, Trump will once again swear allegiance to the US Constitution - whenever a traitor swears allegiance to any piece of paper, to them itis just a piece of paper 0 or swearing on a BIBLE, if one is not religious it doesn't mean squat!  I have watched US politics as a American for 60+ years and have lost interest in believing that they really care for the US...only for themselves.  MHO anyway

So, like the wall, a large majority of Americas want the deportations, and the left will fight tooth and nail to stop him. Good news that.

A large majority of the public now know with certainty that the left are liars. The left has lost what last bit of credibility they had. No one believes the lying morons in the legacy media, and no one gives a happy rat's-a** about what Oprah, the Obamas, George Clooney, the morons on the View, or any of the other rich, condescending a-hole know-nothing leftists think. The pooch is screwed.

I think Trump will not make the mistakes he made in 2016, particularly in regard to staffing. He was stupid to allow so many Obama holdovers. This time, it will be a clean sweep, and as I understand it, he has a long list with thousands of people that have been vetted and that will support his policies.

Trump was naive in 2016; I doubt he will be this time.

I'm looking forward to watching the twice a week press conferences from Vance.

Why are you so scared of we tree hugging, pinko, anti fascist liberals that you can only lower yourself further into abusive posts?

Your insecurity is manifest.

You won. Get over it!

The US citizens choose him overwhelmingly, so have to accept whatever Trump might do/decide. In the UK, they also thought they could do it without migrant workers. We all know the results. Dio not worry: Mexico, India and especially China will love to take over a lot op work from the US and do it in thier countries. With a 10-6% import duty of their products, the laughter will be double hard.
