The incident occurred on the evening of November 11 when a farm truck, locally known as an “e-tan,” lost control and plunged down a 15 metre cliff in Wang Nuea district, Lampang. The incident took place on a remote agricultural road in Ban Huai Pai, Wang Kaeo subdistrict.

Around 19:00 officers from Wang Nuea Police Station received an emergency call reporting that a farm truck had fallen off a steep embankment, resulting in multiple injuries. Police, along with emergency responders from Wang Nuea Hospital, Thung Hua subdistrict administrative organisation rescue team, and Wang Nuea Rescue Unit, promptly arrived at the scene to provide aid.

Upon arrival, responders found the overturned truck, which had been loaded with corn, lying at the bottom of the 15 metre near vertical drop. Seven people were injured, six women and one man. Three of the victims were reported to be in a critical condition, with life threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the farm truck had been returning from agricultural land, where it had picked up villagers from a local farming area. As the vehicle was navigating the narrow, uneven road, the driver suddenly lost control and rolled down the cliffside, resulting in the injuries.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to understand the exact cause of the crash.

Male driver and six workers?

The 'putt putt' trucks are often seen on main roads in the NE driving against the traffic flow. Un-registered, uninsured and overloaded.
