What is Trump really trying to tell us in his latest speech?

I also noted a week ago that his talk and his deportation plan absolutely will result in hate crimes against Hispanics, and I see this is already beginning:

Scaremongering, why were there no hate crimes against Hispanics when Obama deported so many? In 2012 Obama deported over 412 thousand illegals. Where did you see these hate crimes beggining now?

Extraordinary!

BS, like border control, keeping out of wars, lowering inflation, lowering crime rates, ending trans nonsense and keeping men out of women's sports, improving food and drug standards, supporting the military and police, shocking:smile:

Who said Biden was tippy top shape?

Everyone in the Administration and in the legacy media, right up until ten minutes into the debate.

And anyone that said he wasn't called a liar.

Has the democratic party looked in the mirror and see what it has done?  It has lost its way and this loss I hope will help it comprehend what it once was and can be.  It's run by a bunch of elites that are so out of touch with the ideals that defined the party in the last century.

My recommendation to you is to calm down and sincerely look at the party today and how it aligns with your ideals.  Your team lost 10 days ago but by this point you should be mature enough to move on.

What the point of trying to figure out what he said?

What is the most egregious lie you think Trump has told?

Obviously this border fiasco the last 4 years will  result in hate crimes. Who created this mess? People are people and some do terrible acts.  Wish we lived in a peaceful world but we don't and the border crisis is providing ample reason for unhinged individuals to participate in hate crimes.

Was the above not a lie? Did Trump have some reason to believe it would in the face of contrary advice from experts everywhere in the world, including his own government. Was that not a lie?

As always, the cult comes in to explain 'what he really meant'. Parsing POTUS is funnier and displays more pretzel logic than when folks write in awe of how Nostradamus even predicted who would win the World Cup in 2024.

Now, apparently, it's 'a little humor'. I guess it's a joke like when he said "maybe we should inject a little disinfectant", or when he finally made a statement about the terrorists who attacked the Capitol on 6 Jan 2021, and said, "We love you all". Yes, he loves people who beat 140 cops and defecated on the floor of the Capitol, erected gallows, and chanted about hanging the Vice President. Maybe that last one is his playing the Second Coming and forgiving sins like Jeebus does. That's like those 'very fine people' who chanted "Jews will no replace us" in Charlottesville.

As for humor, has he ever laughed, except when he was talking about violence?

Oh, and as expected, his post election stock market rally lost a bit of steam yesterday. (Always fade the initial reaction, I have read posted here).

I also noted a week ago that his talk and his deportation plan absolutely will result in hate crimes against Hispanics, and I see this is already beginning:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/don-t-rights-mexican-southern-003056649.html

Once the deportations start, likely using the military under recess-appointed Fox News host Hegseth, it will get much much worse, with hate crimes certainly spreading to East Asians, Sikhs and others who look "different". Plus, we've already seen the rise in misogyny with the latest meme of "Your body, my choice".

The little dweeb Johnson, a Born Again (and again and again) Christian, is another one seemingly bereft of a sense of humor, unless he can find a way to "own the libs". He and the POTUS-elect have discussed "bringing back prayer in public schools", as if the Founders and their separation of church and State thing never happened. I'll go out on a limb and say such "prayer" is unlikely to be anything from the Qoran, The Teachings of Buddha, the Talmud, the Bhagavad Gita, the Book of Mormon, much less the Satanic Bible. Maybe it might come from The Handmaid's Tale, but otherwise it will be pure Born Again drivel about that all-loving skydaddy whose Master Plan and mysterious ways involved tsunamis and childhood cancer. What a guy! All kids should start their day chanting to him!.

It's all shaping up as expected.....a TV Talking Head who never ran even a lemonade stand in charge of a $900 billion entity like defense, a Putin sycophant who also sided with Assad when he gassed his Syrian citizens as DNI, a steroid-using but vaccine hating guy with a dead worm in his brain to run Health and Human Services, a guy still under investigation of kiddie diddling to head the Department of Justice, and the planned closing of the Dept of Education (which would also de-fund programs for special needs kids), because who needs a Dept of Ed when kids can just pray for success on their math test.

I'm still waiting for the QAnon Shaman to be named Surgeon General.

Your Neo National Socialism has been rejected by the voters of the USA.

The president of the USA has a lot of expert opinion at his disposal. He was lying and he knew it. Period. This was no opportunity ofr idle speculation because nobody knew. You are in blind obeisance if you believe that. And history shows that it accelerated far beyond the numbers prevalent at the time.

As Donald Trump’s cabinet selections begin to take shape, in particular the selection of Matt Gaetz as attorney general and Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, one can begin to see the chaos of his second term unfolding, right on cue.

To no one’s surprise, Mr. Trump is seeking to insulate himself with a coterie of sycophantic loyalists who will be expected to do his bidding at all times, whether or not they are genuinely qualified to oversee the day-to-day management and institutional integrity of the departments he wishes them to head.

If anyone thought, despite all evidence to the contrary, that Mr. Trump was going to view his second stint as commander in chief as an opportunity to tamp down the partisan rancor and general angst and distrust on the part of the American people toward their government, these cabinet picks are proof positive that he has no intention of doing so.

Quite the contrary, as all signs are pointing to the next four years as being no less tumultuous, fraught and dispiriting than the preceding eight years, with Mr. Trump on the political scene.

The choice of Pete Hegseth demonstrates Donald Trump’s prioritization of personal loyalty over competence or qualifications. Mr. Hegseth has never been in charge of any organization but will oversee the largest federal department. He has no experience with foreign policy.

Do Mr. Trump and Mr. Hegseth think that playing the role of Fox News host on TV really qualifies him to be secretary of defense? Or does Mr. Trump only want a willing stooge who will follow orders to deploy troops to American cities to counter protests and deport suspected undocumented immigrants?

It is also frightening that the Republicans in the Senate may be willing to forgo their constitutional role by allowing Mr. Trump to make recess appointments without hearings or votes to approve his blatantly unqualified appointments.

While Trump’s choice of Gaetz to lead the Justice Department is a clear sign that his second administration will be catastrophically chaotic, vengeful and corrupt, that should never have been in doubt. Trump made no secret during his campaign of his desire to persecute his political enemies. Anyone he chose as attorney general would share his interest in turning the justice system into the enforcement arm of the MAGA movement. The selection of Gaetz just rips the mask off. With it, Trump is trolling not just his defeated opponents but many of his craven establishment supporters. It’s like Caligula trying to make his horse a consul.

Of all the people Trump was considering for A.G., Gaetz is unique mainly for how much he is hated by other Republicans, and not just moderate ones. In the final months of the last Trump administration, the Justice Department opened an investigation into whether Gaetz had a relationship with an underage girl that violated federal sex trafficking laws. Though that inquiry was closed without charges, the House opened an ethics investigation into him. It was reportedly set to vote on releasing a damning report on Friday, which Gaetz may have tried to pre-empt by resigning, though it could still become public.

It should go without saying that Gaetz is not, by any normal standards, even a tiny bit qualified to be attorney general. He practiced law for only about two years before running for office, handling small-time civil matters, like suing an old woman for money she owed his father’s caregiving company.

His chief credential is not his mastery of the law but his contempt for it. “We’re proud of the work we did on Jan. 6 to make legitimate arguments about election integrity,” he told Steve Bannon in 2022. He’s called for abolishing both the F.B.I. and the Justice Department unless they “come to heel.” If confirmed, he will be single-minded in his devotion to carrying out Trump’s will without concern for legal niceties.
