I am always amazed by the comments here from some (always the same) lowlife expats who seem to have no empathy whatsoever and can only utter stupid outpourings.:coffee1:

Always the usual suspects...   Even with some made up BS to add their own  flavour.

So, out of his stupidity, just another GoFundMe is live and well. Let others pay for your mistakes.
If he wasn´t stupid enough to drive without helmet and license of course.

Got a headache from reading this AI dribble. To cure that headache I may set up a gofundme so I can pay for the medical cost. Maybe "webfact" could help me to push my case so I am saved......

What is somewhat grinding with this story is that the hospitals know what needs to be done to give this lad a better shot at surviving, but are putting that on hold while waiting for a bill to be paid - IMO that is outrageously mercenary, they can just move the guy, save his life and chase up the costs afterward.

If you want charity go to a charity hospital. Modern medicine is a business, and has rules and regulations which don't include doing expensive operations because they feel sorry for a patient. Of course it's mercenary- that's how business is now.

If you took out a loan from a bank and couldn't pay it back, do you expect the bank to let you off just because you are in a bad way?

they can just move the guy, save his life and chase up the costs afterward.

Seriously? They could keep him in prison till he paid the bill, but then all the bleeding hearts would be complaining about that.

Not to hijack the information in this post, but I would be very interested to know if a person was injured like this and they had entered and paid the future THB 300 entry tax, how much would that fund pay for medical costs ?

If he is working ( as it sounds like) he doesn't come under that scheme. If he is employed by a school, has  a work permit and paying tax the school could claim on their insurance ( can't see that happening for this incident) if they wish or offer to pay a percentage of the medical costs. ( it has been done before)

Surely they could find a loan shark to take the house as collateral on a 30k loan.

Duh

Yeah, sure, but can you please stop take things out of context to fit your weird agenda. What I posted was that it´s stupid to buy an insurance without coverage, and it´s stupid to, if he did, ride without helmet and license. Out of one or two of the reasons a Go Fund Me is now live, and the need for other peoples money to fix his own mistakes. But if you think that is OK, just because it regards a Brit, then so be it. I have no problem with that.

I think I read they need a million Baht.

Yeah, you are right! But in the west, a million Baht is almost nothing at all.

The parents can't find 30k?

Could YOUR parents come up with 30k overnight?

What should happen is the the person who hit him. their insurance company SHOULD pay up automatically and quickly. That assumes that the other driver had proper insurance.

If he didn't have proper insurance. then the onus for the payment is on him.

However TiT.

No insurance? Just irresponsible and now others (including his family) have to help him out

It says he had insurance but not enough to cover the total cost. which would be over 1 million Baht.

Where was it reported that he was unlicensed and riding without a helmet ???

I agree - it was stupid to ride without adequate insurance...  but I recall in my earlier days here while in my 20's, I apparently had insurance cover through my company, but it wasn't something I gave any thought to at the time - I don't imagine many young people give much through to this.

I don't imagine youngsters do until its too late.

Of course, we are acutely aware of these issues because we live her - but how many tourists travel here without awareness that they have no medical cover - IMO, the lack of advice 'pushed' in the direction of tourists and travellers here is very poor.

For this reason alone I like the idea of compulsory insurance (written into the cost of a ticket perhaps) - so that there is no debate regarding treatment at government hospitals - its just carried out.. and if people want to ensure better treatment they can still use their own private insurance etc.

First, where did I post he did drive without helmet and license? If you look, it was an If, in front which usually means that the one posting that is not sure as well. Therefore, you don´t have to ask such stupid question!

After that, I don´t know where to begin. So much nonsense in one post it baffling. If you were reckless and did not care or think about insurance, that´s up to you. In my opinion this is something parents teach or the school. That way, the youngsters will know and give a thought if they care. For that reason, there should be no need for any GoFundMe and other people to pay. You do the crime, you do the time. Same here, you do it the stupid way, you got to pay!

At the end, you also rooting for compulsory insurance, so people just don´t have to care or think by themselves. Great, Richard! You are making zombies that are fed with what they need, just to solve the problem. That´s not the right way. It comes down to that both parents and the school system as well as government agencies and organizations must inform and make young people of today care.

At first I need to wish him well. Such an accident and injuries, I wish nobody.

But, i find this kind of fundraising disgusting.

And again its a Brit. Don't they know anything of insurance. Are they travelling without any knowledge of the country they go. Not prepare anything?

Going brainless to Thailand, this is not a teacher, it's a joke.

The people that donate to these go fund me schemes are never forced to donate. You either give or don't give, very few people know who or how much was donated and generally if you donate nobody will know who or how much.

Below - you did use an IF - but your implication remains clear....

Of course, if he was any other nationality than British you may not have allowed our anti-British bigtory to surface and allude to blaming the injured party...

You still have no idea how you stupidly allow your bias you cloud your judgement an comments.

I kind of agree with this in principle - however, in the real world this does not work.

This is why in Europe there used to an insurance sharing scheme (which was once E111), was EIHC before Brexit and is now GHIC post brexit...  there are plenty of shared insurance schemes.

There has been an insurance issue in Thailand for decades... So, blaming the people is not a solution... its just playing a dumb blame game - there are solutions and that is mandatory insurance for all visitors and that can be provided on arrival IF it can be done so conveniently.

I don't expected you to agree... Its clear the underlying reason for your objection is because are 'doubling down' on your objection to anything I post because you are butt-hurt fool and lack the capacity to think critically.
