I have a very long flight next week - Hong Kong to Boston, 15+ hours - and am looking for something that I can buy at a local pharmacy in Pattaya, or maybe online, to help get some sleep on the plane.

Nothing cannabis related though, I dont want to mess with Hong Kong customs

Any recommendations?  🙏

Mods - not sure if this is the correct forum?

5 valium 5mg have been great for me, I get them at Bangkok hospital for 2k included dr fee, only two each flight, and one for the jetleg when I arrive back home if not straight of offshore.

I know this was not what you asked for, but thats one of the few "legal" ways of doing it, with something that actually works.

My recipee my experience, and should not be taken as an advise. One redvine for the food, and one cognac after, one bottle of water, two valium, do your needed restroom duties,  and sleep

ust want to warn those who think it is a great idea to buy the blue 10mg at pharmacy without an Dr prescription, you risk trouble both when leaving the country, and also arriving your destination with valium. I know many do, but on your own risk.

And also the risk you would to others if you taken them and an emergancy subsequently happened!

No really, beds are hard - still a problem...   Fly First Class - Problem solved... :whistling:

Or...  get realistic - not everyone flys business class, so your of cuff remark is pathetic and serves no purpose.

Best info has been provided for the Op..  get a prescribed sleeping aid.

Another option is Melatonin, which works better for some than others.

Not  really, last time I flew First the  tv was broken........on Emirates in the A380, complained and got a free  flight next time.............private jet, way to go!!

For years I used DORMICUM and that put me to sleep within 20 minutes and lasted around 6 hours. But now these pills can only be obtain from a doctor. If you can get 1 or two, never take both!!!! I did once and had to nearly be carried out of the plane in BKK! LOL! ONLY ONE! Two and you probably sleep for 15 hours! If you use valium, remember they will be in your blood for a LONG time more than the few hrs you may sleep. The Dormicum is gone when you wake up.

Some decent earplugs might go a long way to ensuring that you spend most your upcoming flight in the land of nod. My personal recommendation are Boots Mouldable Wax Earplugs which thusfar I've only been able to obtain during occasional trips back to the UK (my home country). But they now appear to be available online here in Thailand!😀

I never had any luck with commercial earplugs. the ones that work are uncomfortable after a few hours and the soft ones are difficult to push down far enough. The only ones that work for me are custom made by the same people that do hearing aids.

Antihistamine makes me drowsy, so I use it at evening before bedtime.

diphenhydramine or benadryl is well known used for temporary insomnia, and might work well for some. An better solution for sure.

You are right, Half life is 48 hours for diazepam, and Dormicum only 2.5 hours, I was not familiar with Midazolam or Dormicum. Maybe worth checking out for next flight, thanks

The last year I haven't bothered using anything, and I haven't slept one hour, still "only 11 hours and 12,5 hours direct flight, so it okay.

Headphones with sound canceling is the best for flights, and normal industrial earplugs used the correct way and size.

This the correct way to insert earplugs, but you finish off by holding your finger another 10sec while it expanding in your ear before letting go. He didnt do that in this video. Didnt botter to find another, but sure you understand

???????????????

15 hours awake is nothing much. I regularly go without sleep for over 24 hours.

In any event my direct flight to and from Thailand was 12 hours and 15 isn't much longer.

The biggest problem for me was the time difference, and I learned to get over that quickly by staying awake at destination till my normal sleep time and going to sleep then.

Instead of looking at it as a problem, look at it as an opportunity to watch a lot of movies or read that book you never got around to reading.

My doctor won't prescribe anything to make me go to sleep as they are all dangerous.

The worst problem with jetleg, is your body functions, when to go and do your deeds, and since I'm often have to work when back, I sleep when I can, and find that's the best way for me. Even 10 - 20 min middle of day do wonders.

Those headphones cost a bundle.

I know the correct way to use soft earplugs but they are hard to push down far enough before they expand.

I just used the time to watch lots of movies. Can sleep when I'm dead.

If I need to take a very long flight I always book flights which depart very late night / very early morning (if available).  I always sleep well.

If it's a day time flight cannot sleep at all.
