Recommended Posts

Anyone buying Pasture-Raised or Organic Pasture-Raised eggs? Where do you buy these from in the Pattaya City area? Didn't see any being sold at Big C. Haven't checked other supermarkets yet. What about normal markets Thai people shop at?

I know what free range is, just never heard of 'Pasture-raised eggs', or 'Organic eggs' for that matter

Anyway, google told me Villa Market has loads of them

Yep. I should've added a question mark. I was wondering if it's the same thing. Turns out it's not. Pasture gives more space per hen.

It's not the same as free range. Free range means they only have a tiny door with access to go outside for a set period of time, if the hens so choose to.

Here's a guide of the difference of the types of eggs:

Ok, after searching online for Tops, Villa, Big C and Makro, there are no Pasture-Raised eggs for sale by any of the supermarkets. On Tops there comes one labled as Pasture-Raised but when you go to the Youtube video of that farm producing the eggs, it's clearly a lie as they are shown to be locked up while only eating grains, they have nowhere to roam. Seems to be impossible to find any Pasture-Raised eggs in Pattaya.

Tops at Central Festival has free range c chicken eggs from Hill Tribes.  Something like that.  Actually, they have all sorts of different kinds.  I never paid too much attention.

I have tried most of the so called free range eggs in the supermarkets......I have not been that impressed with them......I now buy eggs in the Soi Bukow  Tuesday Friday market...The eggs there seem to me to be the best around........I dont know if the eggs are free range or not.......But they are pretty good eggs........

I have been buying my eggs in the market for about 4-5 years now....

Is there only one stall selling eggs at that market?

How much do they sell the eggs for there and what size are those eggs they sell? Do they also sell duck eggs?

Didn't you ask for organic eggs? They have these in Villa Market

I was after Pasture-Raised Eggs, either being organic or not organic. But would prefer if they were Organic Pasture-Raised Eggs. Seems next to impossible to find in Pattaya, but it's potentially possible to get in BKK if you order from a farm which has Pasture-Raised chickens who deliver to BKK and outer BKK such as this: https://paleorobbie.com/grocery_details/pasture-raised-chicken-eggs-12-pack?srsltid=AfmBOoqIOVt2ddnhf7KOTqTG8FJ7T10GA9hWk_3L_TTEHGssbkT687R8

There are 2 egg stalls there.....I buy from the one with a nice young lady selling.....

They have all sized eggs there......The eggs are not very expensive.......I have never seen duck eggs there...

Give the eggs a try......You very well might like them.....If not no need to buy again....

They probably buy them from Makro and put on a small profit

My Thai is very poor but from what I understand, the girl told me the eggs came from their farm....The eggs are too imperfect to come from Makro...

If anyone speaks better Thai I would like to know more about the eggs there..

If you want to really try somthing "Organic" buy some eggs at Phala Fishing Village near Sattahip, the hens are running around everywhere. One slight drawback, the eggs taste of fish.

Once tasted, never forgotten😝

These are sold by Villa Market in Bangkok. I guess the same should be true in Pattaya...

Makro have organic eggs under their Aro brand and one other brand.

Big C, Makro, Foodland, Friendship all have organic free range eggs and I'm sure there are other outlets. I buy the Hill Tribes brand. But check the bbe dates. Generally people buy the cheapest, so factory, caged versions sell the most.

can you be sure anything is organic here where even villa market's expensive organic veggies, had pesticide residues...

No, you can't. Factory eggs just packed in a fancy looking box with "Organic free range" printed on the outside, and who's to know? I'll stick to buying what it says on the box though.

Free range.

free range and pasture raised are 2 diff things

organic free range is a marketing ploy ..   if the hens have access to leave the coup and walk into a caged holding pen.  then they have free range .    and they are still fed corn/soy/grains etc

pasture raised are out  with a considerable more amt of space

the trick is to find a local who raises there own chicks and walks the field to collect the eggs

The main difference between pasture-raised and free-range eggs is the minimum outdoor space provided to the hens. For pasture-raised eggs, each hen gets a minimum of 108 square feet of pasture for themselves. Whereas with free-range eggs, the hens only receive a minimum of 2 square feet of pasture for themselves.
