I'm really glad that I heard about this earth shattering news - I will have to find some way of keeping my shoes in a "safe" place now!

Destiny the stray dog strikes again!!! Another pair of chewable shoes have gone a missing. I think this serious matter should be reported to the local police and all cttv footage in the near vicinity be examined. Photos of Destiny posted in the beach areas effected, warning the innocent foreigners of this shoe-grabbing villain.

A foreign man residing in Thailand expressed frustration after his shoes were stolen at a beach, sparking a discussion on the commonality of such incidents in the country.

TikTok user @imlukematthew shared a video yesterday, November 25, detailing his experience. He explained that he had ridden his motorcycle to a beach, left his shoes beneath it, and found them missing upon his return.

“I’ve just been robbed in Thailand. I came to the beach, parked my motorcycle, left my shoes with it, and now they’re gone.”

The clip also showed the exact spot where the shoes were left, highlighting that they were taken from directly under the motorcycle.

The foreigner further expressed his disbelief and annoyance.

“Someone stole my shoes off the motorcycle. Now I have feet but no shoes. Look, they’re gone. What’s going on? Why would someone steal shoes? My God, they were worth 2,500 baht, and they’ve just been taken. What’s going on? My God, do you really think someone just took them? Why? This is a bad day. What’s going on?”

As the post gained traction, numerous users commented, offering possible explanations and sharing similar experiences. Many speculated that the culprit might have been a dog, potentially having sneaked off with the shoes. Others shared their frustrations over the frequent disappearance of footwear, regardless of where they leave them, be it at the beach, a temple, or even their doorstep.

This incident also sheds light on the cultural practice of leaving shoes outside, which is common in many Asian countries, including Thailand. Visitors are often advised to be mindful of where they leave their shoes, especially in public or busy areas. Despite the frustration, many accept it as a cultural quirk and adjust to it over time, reported KhaoSod.

He seems to have a lot of tattoos, so his IQ is questionable anyway.

Why on earth would something like this be mentioned? Occasionally these reports are petty, but this represents a new low. Thievery takes place around the world every minute of every day, and most thefts are infinitely more significant than this one.

Does anyone really care about a ratty, smelly pair of old shoes? Really? Is that what we've reduced ourselves to? Has society diminished to that level where we care about things like this?

He was fortunate only his shoes were stolen. Some people in Thailand would steal the eye out of your head and come back for the hole.

Only last year I stayed at a guesthouse in Kanchanaburi for three nights, on the first night, the owner saw me walking into my room without taking my trainers off, he approached me and said in a very pleasent manner that it is the rules that you must leave your shoes outside, I then told him that I do not obey rules that I do not agree with.

He was still very pleasent with me for the rest of my stay.

So he bought some low end genuine Nike shoes or something like that and leaves them next to his scooter and goes to the beach. Tell me any country in the world where a person would do this. If this is true he's a complete and utter moron. If it's not true then he's a complete and utter moron. If looks are anything to go by he's a complete and utter moron.

My brand new 2,500 baht sandals were stolen from outside of a massage parlour years ago.

This was a time when western size sandals were hard to get in thailand.  And being a walker good, comfortable sandals are hard to come by.

The massage parlour owner however saved the day by giving me a 20 baht pair of oversized, ratty sandals to compensate for the theft.

I'm sorry, I just had to have them, they looked so cool.

Sorry.

And being a staunch City supporter, you are probably correct.

When I first landed in Pattaya, after a week my new B200 sandals were stolen from in front of my cheap rented room. However, the thief kindly left his worn out shower shoes for me. Too small, too.

My bad. The bar girls renting the room across the hall had warned me. "Thai man come here!"
