Destiny the stray dog strikes again!!! Another pair of chewable shoes have gone a missing. I think this serious matter should be reported to the local police and all cttv footage in the near vicinity be examined. Photos of Destiny posted in the beach areas effected, warning the innocent foreigners of this shoe-grabbing villain.

My God, they were worth 2,500 baht, and they’ve just been taken. What’s going on? My God, do you really think someone just took them? Why? This is a bad day. What’s going on?”

 

As the post gained traction, numerous users commented, offering possible explanations and sharing similar experiences. Many speculated that the culprit might have been a dog, potentially having sneaked off with the shoes. Others shared their frustrations over the frequent disappearance of footwear, regardless of where they leave them, be it at the beach, a temple, or even their doorstep.

 

This incident also sheds light on the cultural practice of leaving shoes outside, which is common in many Asian countries, including Thailand. Visitors are often advised to be mindful of where they leave their shoes, especially in public or busy areas. Why on earth would something like this be mentioned? Occasionally these reports are petty, but this represents a new low. Thievery takes place around the world every minute of every day, and most thefts are infinitely more significant than this one.

 

Does anyone really care about a ratty, smelly pair of old shoes? Really? Is that what we've reduced ourselves to? Has society diminished to that level where we care about things like this?

Only last year I stayed at a guesthouse in Kanchanaburi for three nights, on the first night, the owner saw me walking into my room without taking my trainers off, he approached me and said in a very pleasent manner that it is the rules that you must leave your shoes outside, I then told him that I do not obey rules that I do not agree with.

He was still very pleasent with me for the rest of my stay.

My brand new 2,500 baht sandals were stolen from outside of a massage parlour years ago.

 

This was a time when western size sandals were hard to get in thailand.  And being a walker good, comfortable sandals are hard to come by.

 

The massage parlour owner however saved the day by giving me a 20 baht pair of oversized, ratty sandals to compensate for the theft.

When I first landed in Pattaya, after a week my new B200 sandals were stolen from in front of my cheap rented room. However, the thief kindly left his worn out shower shoes for me. Too small, too.

Both my wife and I have and ride big bikes in Thailand.  You obviously have to be very careful and expect the unexpected as you do in any vehicle in Thailand.  I have found great roads and great friends who share our love of two wheels. If he was going to the beach he would have had those cheap slip on type.Apart from that he would he have left them with his towel and things.If the shoes were worth 2500 then for sure wear them on the beach and the size matters.I bet he just went to a shop and brought some cheap 50 baht shoes to go home like the ones he lost
