More than 200 people from the TV and film industry have signed a letter to the BBC board calling for an urgent investigation into what it called "systemic problems of antisemitism and bias" at the corporation.

The letter said "208 BBC staff, contractors, suppliers and contributors from across the television and film industries, the majority of whom are Jewish" were in "anguish and disbelief" that complaints about coverage and social media posts during the Israel-Gaza war had not been dealt with.

   Persons who should be neutral in the conflict, people who shouldn't be biased : Journalists , U.N agencies , Aid workers , volunteers in Gaza , Reporters. 

   If those guys are biased to one side , then that biasedness should be stated , If a reporter is pro Palestinian , then it should be stated .

   That's not the same as forcing all Jews to wear yellow badges in Nazi Germany just before they were all killed en masse

Does anyone know if any BBC journalists appeared on air wearing Palestinian colors or a keffiyeh?  How about the other 5.5 million TUC members in 47 unions besides the NUJ?  Any real response to the TUC call for solidarity with Palestine?

IMHO it would be highly inappropriate for any newscaster to publicly display any political bias.  News should be factual and impartial.

 

Those of you old enough to remember Walter Cronkite will probably remember that he never gave a clue as to his own political preferences.

That ended 25+ years ago.  There hasn't been "unbiased" reporting since Huntley-Brinkley Report and Walter Cronkite. MSM is biased to the far-Left with the exception of Fox which is bias to the right.  Ain't nobody but Independent Alternative media which is even attempting to be unbiased.

"Antisemitiism" is a completely weaponize term now.  It's been so overused as to have lost all meaning.

If you criticize events in the US, does that make you "anti-American?"
If you criticize events in the UK, does that make you "anti-British?"
The answer is no.
But criticize Israel and we're told it's "antisemitic." That's why the term has lost meaning.  Israel is just another country like the other 193 countries on this planet and every country is subject to criticism of their policies.  It's not special. And Israel has some major domestic and international problems.

Why didn't they follow up their talk with similar action ?

Why didn't they suggest people wear neutral colours ?

The T.U.C wanted people to show support for the Palestinian cause by wearing Palestine  colours and they added a bit about hostages being released , just trying to appearing to be neutral .

   Why not wear  badge showing the hostages being held or Israel's colours  ?

Are you trying to play game swith the definition of "call''  or "solidarity?"  In any case, I wasn't making anything up.  If the quote I included had been wrong (and it wasn't), then the journalist who wrote the article would have been the one making things up, not me.  If you're convinced the TUC did not call for solidarity with Palestine, you could chide  me for falling for and quoting false information,  but I didn't make up that information myself by any stretch of the imagination.

 

To get back to the facts:  In several pages on its Web site, the TUC explicitly calls for solidarity with Palestine.  Due to board rules, I didn't post the entire text of the TUC's Nov. 28 announcement.  The first two sentences read  (my bold):  "The TUC and unions are today (Thursday) uniting to support a workplace day of action to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.  This initiative is a response to the urgent appeal from Palestinian workers for global solidarity."

The BBC is supposed to be an impartial broadcaster of news and affairs, regardless of race or religion.
