A heartwarming incident unfolded when a Good Samaritan returned a lost wallet, containing a significant amount of money, to its owner after nearly two months of searching.

 

The event took place near a market square next to Plutaluang, Sattahip district, Chon Buri. On this occasion, the community was abuzz with excitement as the wallet, which contained cash and important documents, was finally reunited with its rightful owner.

 

The story began on October 4, when Warawan Rattana, an employee at Chaikamol Electric, discovered a wallet lying at the base of a lamppost outside a bank. She suspected that it contained important items but did not open it.

 

Unsure how to locate the owner, Warawan entrusted the wallet to Anusorn Thaiyanusorn, the owner of a nearby pork leg rice shop, hoping the owner might return to search for the missing item.

 

Despite holding the wallet for some time, Anusorn did not hear from the owner. In collaboration with Panarun Klomkaew, owner of an adjacent fish porridge shop, they opened the wallet in each other’s presence and documented the contents as evidence.

 

 

Inside, they found 12,860 baht in cash and a national ID card belonging to 60 year old Surin Silsorn, who resides in Khukhan district, Sisaket province.

 

Efforts were made to track down Surin by contacting Suntaree Jabang, the village head of Moo 5 in the Plutaluang subdistrict. However, Surin was not listed within the Sattahip area.

 

After extensive searching through various channels, it was discovered that Surin resided in Moo 2 of the same subdistrict, where Sakol Klankaew serves as the village head. With his assistance, Surin was located, and arrangements were made for her to retrieve her belongings.

 

Upon receiving the wallet, Surin expressed immense gratitude and relief. Accompanied by Somprasong Wangkaewhiran, an expert for the Member of Parliament from Chon Buri’s 10th district, who helped count the money as a witness, Surin confirmed that all the cash was intact.

 

Surin recounted how she had withdrawn the money, which included her senior citizen allowance and digital wallet funds from the government, totalling 12,860 baht, before misplacing her wallet. She had filed a report with the police but wasn’t optimistic about recovering her money and belongings, reported KhaoSod.

After two months of searching... the ID card was in the wallet all along... 

but hey... it was a welcomed result.

I note she did not entrust the wallet to the police for safekeeping.

If the wallet was given to the local police it's a safe bet that some,or all,of the 12,860 baht would have somehow vanished somehow.Amazing how somethings disappear in others possession.
