A 14-year-old boy was shot early on the morning of December 7, in a targeted attack near a popular shopping mall in Yala. The teenager, identified as “Red”, managed to escape and sought help from local police, fearing for his life.

At approximately 01:45 on December 7, the Yala City Police Station received a distress call from a checkpoint at Mueang Yala. A group of teenagers reported that one of their peers had been shot in the abdomen and was in need of immediate medical assistance.

The victim, later identified as Red, was conscious when police arrived at the scene. He told officers that the shooting occurred in front of a Mini Big C store near Bana Alley, located on Phang Mueang 4 Road, close to the Phang Mueang 4 market. After being shot, he fled the scene and sought refuge at the checkpoint.

Police and emergency teams immediately responded to the area, conducting an initial investigation and securing the scene. An inquiry is ongoing, with investigators coordinating with local authorities to follow proper procedures.

The young boy’s condition is stable, and further details regarding the motive for the shooting are yet to be determined.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

Why is a 14 year old out in the early hours of the morning, shouldn't the police also be looking at the parents?

It was Saturday night.

You want him home playing tiktok on his phone all night?

No, in bed by 11pm. At least your alternative wouldn't cause him to be shot in the stomach. I'm not turning my back on reality, having raised and am still raising teenagers I know how difficult control is, my 17 year old son is always on his computer talking with his international friends across several time zones, this means he is talking away until 1 or 2 am despite having school the next day but I set limits and he knows there will be arguments when I catch him, I'm just thankful that at least I know where he is.
