The Thais would have already informed UK customs of the Asian gentleman with a British passport and what he had in his bags

And a copy of his Excess Baggage receipt. 😀

Actually 2 years 3 months in jail for a white person.

A white person who had over 100kg of cannabis in five suitcases and admitted smuggling it deliberately!!!

Try harder.

How about the white person in the OP who was caught with a similar 40kg of cannabis in Manchester and received a similar suspended sentence to the brown guy. Any thoughts?

Your imagined prejudice against the white people is hilarious........and pretty sad.

Ah got it.  So the 40kg he had in his suitcase was not deliberate?  If you believe that nonsense maybe you would be interested in a bridge I have for sale.  Do you know how much 40kg even is?  Its about the weight of a Thai girl.  Impossible to accidentally carry on a plane and nobody is carrying that kind of weight in suitcases for someone free of charge.

Dean Pharoah (white male) was sentenced to 2 years for the same offense and the one I presume you are referring to is a celebrity white girl and there has always been a disparity between what males and females get sentenced to for the same offenses.

You are a 2-tier justice denier.

We need more judges like you and some of the other xenophobic commenters in this thread. I'm sure you would quarter this guy solely based on his non-native name. On the other hand, you’re the one advocating for pardoning a policeman-killer in another thread—again, based solely on his skin color and similar factors. Yes, we definitely need more judges with the animal-like mentality of us-them.

No, I would jail this person on the contents of his suitcase and his character which in this case he was carrying 40kg of drugs which means he is of questionable character.  I would look at what other sentences have been given for similar cases and give the same without taking skin colour into account as to do so would (of course) be racist.

I don't recall advocating pardoning anyone who has killed a policeman.  Perhaps you can enlighten me.

If you’re referring to the term “policeman-killer,” it could mean one of two things depending on the context:

1. A killer who targets police officers – This could describe a criminal or individual responsible for the killing of police officers.

2. A policeman who kills – This could refer to a police officer who has committed acts of violence or killings, possibly in the line of duty or otherwise.

Got it. So when I point out that a white person got exactly the same sentence as a brown muslim sounding person you shift the goalposts and say it's because she's a woman. Righty ho. So brown people and women get preferential treatment. So instead of crying for the poor little oppressed white people I'll change it to poor little oppressed white men. Better?

You are a 2-tier justice dreamer as it fits your completely ridiculous "white people are oppressed" narrative.

Sentencing disparity between genders has been prevalent in all western countries for years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentencing_disparity#:~:text=kill their husbands.-,United Kingdom, mitigating factors and case characteristics.

What is new is the disparity between white and non-white criminals.  I think that criminals who commit the same offenses should be treated equally and if a white man receives a 2 year sentence for smuggling cannabis then so should the brown man. Only a racist would think that someones skin colour should be a factor in the sentencing.
