Man Arrested After High-Speed Car Chase Leaves Infant Severely Injured Authorities have arrested a man following a three-month manhunt. The suspect, identified as Mr. Supradit 32, was charged with attempted murder after a high-speed car chase in which he allegedly rammed a pickup truck into a motorcycle, leaving a 1-year-old boy critically injured. Tourist Police & Embassies from 15 Countries Hold Football Match to Strengthen Ties

The event was led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Sakshisira Phueak-um, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, alongside senior officials and officers. The match saw the VIP Tourist Police team face off against a team composed of embassy representatives, led by H.E. Mr. Tumur Amarsanaa, Ambassador of Mongolia to Thailand; H.E. Mr. Arman Issetov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Thailand; and Mr. Jaber Alshehhi, Consul and Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Thailand. Diplomats from other nations also joined the game, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. Pol. Lt. Gen. Sakshisira explained that the event aligns with government policy, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Royal Thai Police’s initiative to “Generate Income, Spread Joy, and Ensure Safety.” This friendly match aims to strengthen diplomatic ties between embassies and the Tourist Police Bureau, as well as other related agencies, while fostering collaboration to ensure the safety of tourists during the high season. The football match serves as a key activity to demonstrate the commitment and readiness of the Royal Thai Police, the Tourist Police Bureau, and associated agencies in safeguarding tourists. It also aims to enhance Thailand’s international image and build confidence among visitors. Myanmar Fishing Vessel Seized with Six Crew Members for Encroaching Thai Waters
Picture courtesy of Matichon Authorities in Thailand have detained a Myanmar fishing vessel and its six crew members for illegally entering Thai waters, seizing 40 tons of salted krill as part of the operation. The 3rd Naval Area Command of the National Maritime Security Coordination Center (NMSC Region 3) reported that on December 13, at 21.00, a coordinated operation was led by Vice Admiral Suwat Donsakoon, Commander of the 3rd Naval Area Command and Director of NMSC Region 3. The operation involved multiple agencies, including the Ranong Maritime Security Coordination Center (NMSC Ranong), the Ranong Provincial Water Police, and the Department of Fisheries’ Ranong checkpoint, among others. The mission, prompted by intelligence from the 2nd Coastal Guard Regiment, targeted suspected illegal transfers of fishery products near Ranong’s port. Officials intercepted the Myanmar vessel, Pyi Phyo Hlaing 18, a 50-ton fishing vessel, as it was unloading its cargo at Wai Thong Port in Pak Nam Subdistrict, Muang District, Ranong Province. Upon inspection, the vessel was found to be carrying 40,000 kilograms of salted krill, packed in 2,000 bags weighing 20 kilograms each. The crew, all Myanmar nationals, failed to produce legal documentation for importing fishery products via the Fisheries Single Window (FSW) system, as required by Thai law. Authorities charged the vessel and crew with violating the 2015 Fisheries Act, amended in 2017. Under Section 92 of the Act, importing fishery products into the kingdom without official authorisation is prohibited. Violators face penalties under Section 158, including fines amounting to five times the value of the seized products. The crew was also charged with illegally importing marine products into Thailand without permits. They were handed over to investigators at Pak Nam Police Station in Ranong Province for further legal proceedings. The seizure underscores Thailand’s commitment to combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing activities in its waters and protecting its maritime resources. -- 2024-12-15 -

Police Arrest Woman Using Dating App to Rob Victim

Highway police arrested a 42-year-old tomboy, Ms. Kornnipa, within an hour after she allegedly used a dating app to lure a woman into her condo, steal her mobile phone and pickup truck, and flee the scene. On December 14, Pol. Lt. Col. Pitthaya Thanawut, Highway Police Subdivision 4, Division 2, and officers from Chumphon Highway Police apprehended Ms. Kornnipa and seized a gray Toyota Vigo pickup truck and a stolen mobile phone. The arrest took place at a gas station in Suan Taeng Subdistrict, Lamae District, Chumphon Province. The incident began on December 13, when Ms. Kai the victim, reported the crime to the Pratunam Chulalongkorn Police Station in Pathum Thani Province. She stated that she had met Ms. Kornnipa, who identified herself as “Kan,” on a dating app. The two agreed to meet at the victim’s condo in the Prachathipat Subdistrict of Thanyaburi District. According to the victim, Ms. Kornnipa came to her condo, and the victim allowed her to rest in the room. The victim fell asleep, and when she woke up in the morning, she discovered that Ms. Kornnipa was gone, along with her mobile phone, car keys, and her gray Toyota Vigo pickup truck parked downstairs. Highway police in Chumphon tracked the stolen pickup truck and identified its route heading south from Pathum Thani Province. Officers set up checkpoints and dispatched teams to monitor gas stations and rest stops where the suspect might hide. By 13:00 on December 13, officers located the stolen pickup at a gas station. Ms. Kornnipa was found inside the vehicle and admitted to stealing the victim’s truck and mobile phone. She claimed she planned to visit a friend in Surat Thani Province. Ms. Kornnipa was taken into custody and transferred to the Chumphon police station for further investigation. She faces charges of theft in a dwelling at night, with legal proceedings underway. -- 2024-12-15 -

Elderly Man, 82, Takes His Own Life in Garage Amid Illness and Stress

Authorities believe the man's declining physical condition led to the tragic incident. On December 13, officers from Mueang Nakhon Si Thammarat Police Station, accompanied by forensic doctors and rescue personnel, responded to a report of a suicide at a residence in the Pho Sadet Subdistrict. Upon arrival at the single- story home, situated in a fruit orchard, they discovered the deceased, identified as Mr. Aied, seated face-down near the back garage. Nearby, authorities found the deceased's walking frame, glasses, and shoes. A nylon rope was still tied to a roof beam in the garage. A preliminary autopsy revealed bruising on the neck but no signs of foul play. The death was estimated to have occurred within the previous five hours. Relatives informed investigators that Mr. Aied had been in good health and active in managing the family orchard until recently. He had begun experiencing severe breathing difficulties, fatigue, and weakness, necessitating the use of a four-legged walking frame, to move around. On the morning of the incident, his children left for work as usual, while his wife, who is also in poor health, remained indoors. A relative visiting the house later discovered Mr. Aied's body in the garage. Police suspect that the elderly man, distressed by his health struggles, decided to end his life. He reportedly tied a nylon rope to a 2-meter bamboo pole, secured it to a garage beam, and attempted to hang himself. However, investigators believe the rope may have loosened, causing him to fall and succumb to asphyxiation. Relatives did not suspect foul play and have accepted the cause of death. After the examination, the body was released to the family for funeral rites.
