I'm new here from America and and almost 70 years old divorced and lonely.. I met this beautiful young girl outside of  a bar very early morning in Pattaya and she seemed really afraid. I really felt sorry for her and she told me her story of such a hard life on the farm, and so after paying the bar owner 5000 baht to get her out of that horrible place, we visited her parents in Udon Thani. We knew were soul mates immediately so after they said they had some land. They  said it would only cost 200,000usd to build a small home. Is this a normal price here for a small home here. Thanks i am so in love. I know many people here have similar wonderful experiences.

HaHa, nice troll.

You are definitely NOT in love. You are in lust. You are emotionally vulnerable. I always advocate really taking your time here. Time is ALWAYS our ally, and never theirs. So take you time, get to know who they really are, and how they act under duress. The vast majority of Thai people are way immature for their age. And many women and men are emotionally undeveloped, and really just 13 year olds, who look like adults. There is something about this society that does not allow most people to grow up with an understanding of themselves. I think face has something to do with it. The utter refusal to take responsibility for one's actions and the unwillingness to "own" a situation, and man up when you screw up. That and the inability to question people, and situations. And the subsequent lack of curiosity. It is all a perfect storm, when it comes to preventing alot of people from becoming well developed human beings, with communication skills, and the tools needed to conduct meaningful relationships, beyond the surface.

So you need at least 3 years, before investing any money, to get to know her and her family. Otherwise, the chances of this ending well as very slim.

Not even a good attempt at trolling.

What a load of complete crap.

Marriage is an archaic concept created to line the coffers of Politicians and Preachers.  As well, in Thailand, a payoff to her folks.  A marriage certificate only provides an entry, not an exit to the union.

In today's World, there is no reason to a marriage.   Contract agreements provide much more protection to each side without the financial stigma of an official marriage.

if the op is even real which i doubt the chances of him thinking through your very sound advice with his big head instead of the little head are likely slim to none....a 20 year old thai gal can easily do that to most any man especially one that is old enough to be her great grandfather and thinks he and she are in "love".

Let's face facts. You are 70, so probably only have one or two, maybe five years left on his earth. Riding a young filly might even shorten that time. Is paying US$200,000 to build a home you won't get to live in for too long a good investment?

Don't forget that you will also have pay pay an extremely high sin sod for such a highly prized farm girl, plus a new pickup truck for the family. There might even be further loans required once you are "part of said family."

It might be best you check your finances can afford it before making such a move.

Damn man!  I'm over 75 years old.

I'll let you know if I drop dead tomorrow.   I don't even have a young filly to ride either!!!

A house in the Udon Thani should cost no more than US$400.00 per square meter. About 13500 TB per square meter. I just built a large one with three bathrooms and two kitchens, and project managed it myself, and it cost 12,000 TB per square meter.

And as someone else commented, be prepared to lose your investment, and don't spend all your money on the project.

Regarding ongoing running-costs, don't forget that the sick-buffaloes will require land to be purchased to live on, and regular visits from the (expensive, farang-price) vet ?

Also check that your Tirak doesn't have a brother or male-cousin hanging around, of a similar age to her, that will likely be her Thai-husband, who may not like having a farang competitor.  :whistling:

I know you are right and sensible BUT;

When we get to 70s better take what you get. Just ignore all wise advice, go for it full steam and enjoy life!

Who cares what their motives are? Just enjoy the ride with a young hot gal.

Most of us have paid thousands for social security - let them take care of us when we go broke.

Some of us have too much to spend - we need help! Thai women are known for good heart and great skill in that area, let them help us.

OP - keep reporting how things go for you.

you are 70 years old, she is in love with your money.  Remember not to spend all your money. Again, don’t spend all your money, good luck

Nope, nope, nope. can you find happiness here in the "winter of your life"? Absolutely, but experienced advise? No permanent commitments until a year of life in Thailand and definitely outside Pattaya. Love Pattaya and my experience there but odds stacked against you ....
