Thai AirAsia X is set to escalate its services, introducing four weekly flights between Bangkok and Delhi starting January 15, 2025. This expansion comes as the airline taps into the burgeoning demand from Indian travellers, buoyed by visa-free travel and improved connectivity.

The carrier, known for operating A330 aircraft, celebrated its return to Delhi on December 15, marking a significant step in its Southeast Asia strategy. Thai AirAsia X’s CEO, Tassapon Bijleveld, highlighted the recent enhancement of the bilateral Air Service Agreement between India and Thailand. This agreement has significantly increased weekly seat allocations, with an eye on potential future growth.

Bijleveld stated, "We are witnessing an increase in international travel demand, thanks to initiatives like visa-free entry, making journeys more affordable and accessible."

Beginning January, flights will increase to four times a week, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from the current twice-weekly services. The airline aims to leverage Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok as a vital connecting hub, enhancing Indian travellers' access to over 130 AirAsia destinations globally.

Thai AirAsia X projects they will capture 20% of the onward travel market for Indian passengers heading to other destinations. Their fleet of 370-seat, all-economy A330s promises an affordable yet comfortable travel experience for long-haul passengers.

The expansion reflects the group's solid presence in India, with sister airline Thai AirAsia operating within the region from 12 Indian cities using A320 aircraft. The move underscores Thai AirAsia X’s strategic commitment to enhancing dual-country connectivity and catering to the upward trend in cross-border travel.
