Popular Post Dogmatix Posted Thursday at 06:50 AM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 06:50 AM It's not like in England where it may take hours to get a clamp removed after paying a large fine. In Bangkok and Pattaya the cops arrive within a few minutes to removed the clamp after you have paid in the cop shop. Last time I paid 500 baht. So why bother with this tedious rigmarole and risk being arrested for a more serious crime? 1 1 3

gjoo888 Posted Thursday at 08:08 AM Posted Thursday at 08:08 AM I had my bike locked in Bangkok years ago, it cost me 200 Baht to get it unlocked. Even if these brainiacs had to pay 1,000 Baht, it would be a whole lot cheaper and no risk of spending the night in a Thai jail. 1 1

Popular Post BarraMarra Posted Thursday at 09:01 AM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 09:01 AM What a joke some locals moaning about tourists breaking laws what about them riding 3-4 on a bike no helmets no insurence nothing, riding in the direcrion to oncoming traffic disregarding other users. 1 1 2
Popular Post Cabradelmar Posted Thursday at 09:05 AM Popular Post Posted Thursday at 09:05 AM Why wouldn't you thumb your nose at the RTP? Their reputation proceeds them. Corrupt, lazy, unskilled at anything that resembles real policing. Glorified security guards. 2 2
Mr Meeseeks Posted Thursday at 09:15 AM Posted Thursday at 09:15 AM They were just taking the bike back to the rental shop.
geisha Posted Thursday at 09:40 AM Posted Thursday at 09:40 AM It’s very hard to see who is , or not, an unwelcome tourist at immigration. Most people are dressed tidily and behave themselves. It won’t help to reduce the duration of Visa exempt entry either . Everyone can always get a 30 day extra at immigration. What is needed is police on the streets. Especially at night. One or two police boxes strategically placed, and a small shop selling safe helmets at a reasonably expensive price. That would stop most of the idiots without , including Thais. Breathalyzers would help too, save some tragic accidents even for expats and mostly law abiding residents.
Regyai Posted Thursday at 10:41 AM Posted Thursday at 10:41 AM A worthless old chain & lock, any innocent tourist could reasonably assume it to be some form of childish prank 1 1

Yeh but they are Thai . I get they are still criminals and idiots but they are at least Thai Idiot criminals . Tourists (guests) committing crime hits totally different. I should know coming from the UK , we have “non” invited guests committing crime

Usually done by some "public order office" under city council rule. Hahaha, Yeah, but city councils can't keep the money in countries with the proper rule of law. Here, it's the Police domain and piggy bank.
jvs Posted Thursday at 11:17 AM Posted Thursday at 11:17 AM I know a guy who went and got his motorbike twice! from the local police lock-up. He went around 2 am carrying a big bolt cutter and cut of the chain, started the bike and went home. He never heard anything from the cops, mind you this was nearly 20 years ago.
biggles45 Posted Thursday at 12:27 PM Posted Thursday at 12:27 PM ' One or two police boxes strategically placed, and a small shop selling safe helmets at a reasonably expensive price.' If only! I live 5 minutes walk from the police box outside Big c extra on Klang and pass regularly. I almost never see a cop outside the box doing anything, even tho his bike is parked there. Literally 100 bikes would stop at the lights with no helmet but they are just too lazy to make the effort. Oh, and you can buy a 'legal' helmet in Big C for under 300 baht less than the fine if the cops were serious.

Captain Flack Posted Thursday at 12:43 PM Posted Thursday at 12:43 PM A racist troll post has been removed.
London Lowf Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM Posted Thursday at 01:29 PM I've had a bike chained - annoying as it was parked along with dozens of others on a "No parking couples days" and picked at random. A sign that was later pointed out to me by a local was tiny, mounted high up a pole and, at the time, I had no idea what a "couples day" was. I've never seen a Wave or a Scoopy chained, always a more upmarket scooter, as ridden by tourists - the bike in this story is a brand new (red plate) ADV160 and so pretty much guaranteed to be ridden by a farang victim. 1

john donson Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago better invest in a bolt cutter or finding a thai renting one
Briggsy Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago You would only need to dish out some Singaporean-style corporal punishment and this type of behaviour would virtually disappear overnight.
